Can't say about 4* and up, but...

Try to get a Tempered Calibur ASAP - which has saved my hide on many an occasion - for general use. Don't do away with it just because it's Normal damage. Use the charge only when solo, or against turrets - if you angle it right, it will one-hit them or, in a large party, be killed with a couple of hits. it's the cheapest 3* sword in the game to get via missions - only 1,000cr and 100CE to get.
Apart from that, I can't help without you posting a copy of your equipment, so please do so.

Charge is fine with parties as long as you know how to use it.
I bring my Levi into FSC all the time, and use the charge quite often.
No one has complained.
The trick is to lunge yourself into a crowd and spin spin spin everything away!
Or use it against a couple enemies up against a wall and spin spin spin them to pieces!
Also great against immobile enemies.
Just don't use the charge against small groups and single enemies unless they are immobile.
Levi charge is also great if someone else has a Shivermist, for it allows you to put yourself in the middle of the crowd of enemies much easier and lets you get more hits in before they are flung away.
Also good with an Electron Vortex...
I have purposely trapped myself in my team mates Electron Vortex before with my Levi ready to spin... fun stuff.

My sword guide is written for people like you. Consider switching out your bomb for another, as suggested by the other people here.

Hmmm...

I'd suggest not using Brute Jelly gear, as it isn't much better than Dusker/Gunslinger sets, and those give bonuses. Maybe even go with Spiral Demo - hybrid sword/bomb, both elemental and piercing defence.
This depends a little on how you play. The Freezing Vapourizer is not a good choice for DPS - personally, I'd use a gun like an alchemer. Since you don't use guns, though, I won't suggest those. Possibly, consider running the IMF and get a shock bomb, or get a Fiery Vapourizer.

The question is, how to get DPS in bombs without using the potentially antisocial Blast line. I'd say a Crystal line bomb.

Owlite Shield is good, not much to be said here, but the Swiftstrike, while being a dead end, is pretty good in T2 for sword users (I'd know - I own one) if you learn how to dodge and don't rely on the shield too much. It also (unverified), I think, affects the amount of time it takes to lower/raise the bomb, but I'm not sure.

Just my two cents.
