yep, that's great

You have ideal helmet/suit/shield for a sworder: piercing, with a sword bonus. Nightblade is a great weapon for the Royal Jelly Palace.

Your second weapon should probably be elemental, to work on the lumbers and gun puppies (and to work better than the Nightblade does on the silkwings). Your elemental gun is fine. An elemental sword would also be fine. You could even bring a piercing weapon for the silkwings, and just use your Nightblade on the constructs. But elemental is better.

That's perfectly fine. I've done something like that on my smurf, except everything except my nightblade was the standard free gear (blaster, cobalt, defender)

vials; ignore everything but RJ

Use vials, particularly poison, curse, fire, shock, stun. Not so much freeze or sleep.

Charge your Nightblade, or just hack away with it, shielding the Royal Jelly's attacks. Fight the Royal Jelly only. Ignore all of the little jellies.

"really? i thought they drop a ton of cash. and oh if I keep on attacking would he just be healed by polyps?"

Yes, he heals, I think by absorbing the mini-jellies that the polyps emit. Your goal is to damage him faster than he heals. That's why poison, curse, fire, etc. are important.

You're worried about getting cash during the RJ fight? I assumed that you were more concerned about winning. But my view of the thing is a bit different, as most of my RJ fights occurred before he was weakened. RJ used to be pretty hard, actually. So my attitude is: Kill him as fast as possible.

Here's a strat.

It might be subjective, but it seems like his later stages have less hp than his starting stages. I know for a fact that JK heals by absorbing the minis that polyps throw (he doesn't absorb the ones at the start, I believe); if there are no minis around, he doesn't heal. He also won't absorb minis at full health. None of the creeps in the boss fight give any coins; they may occasionally drop heat, vitas, and such.

If you want a nearly surefire way to kill JK, do the following:
Make sure to collect poison and fire vials (and pills of course) for the boss fight. I suggest you get your nightblade to level 10.
At the start, charge your nightblade, and launch it into the enemies that spawn in the middle. Get a few hits in on small enemies, but avoid JK. The polyps spawn minis that heal JK, but these minis die in a single hit. The polyps die in 6 nightblade slashes (a nightblade charge does 2-3 times the damage of a regular slash); and DO NOT RESPAWN. Avoid the regular jellies JK throws out; these can't heal them, and he can only have 4 out at a time. (Killing them lets him spawn more.). Kill all the polyps, and then all the minis, and then use your gun on JK.

For the second stage, these polyps DO RESPAWN. You can follow the same strategy, however; I would first go in a clockwise circle weakening all the polyps and killing random minis. Then, I go in a clockwise circle again, this time killing all the polyps. You may use your gun on JK, but you may want to deal faster damage with nightblade before polyps respawn. You can also use fire or poison vials, but save one of each for the last stage.

The 3rd stage starts with JK going invincible. Use this time to heal up, and kill any minis in the middle. As soon as he can be hit, throw poison and fire vials at him, and then whack away with your nightblade. He doesn't have much hp in this last stage, and with wolver line gear, you can take a few hits.

Who needs vials?

Personally, I use a Tempered Calibur rather than a Nightblade, because a) I don't have a Nightblade b) the Tempered Calibur charge does a load more damage than the Nightblade charge c) you can use the Tempered Calibur against Silkwings, and with my damage bonuses I don't really need to kill jellies any faster.
Apart from the Nightblade, that's almost identical to my loadout - I use Dusker rather than Wolver, but I'm also probably richer than you, and I upgraded a while back. I'd upgrade the wolver ASAP.

As Bopp said: Kill him as fast as possible. If you spam TC charge attacks, he can't keep up with his healing.

Ignore everything except the giant jelly. When he gets to Stage 3, then, while he rages, kill a few jellies to keep the field clear.
At the beginning, kill the three normal cubes.

You could just spam Dark

You could just spam Dark Retribution and run around in circles, waiting for him to die.

Dark Retribution for the win

I assume you don't have one... but if you have a chance to get one, either the Dark Retribution or even the 3 star Dark Reprisal MK2 will work really well on Mr. Jelly. If you can kill lots of minis, and curse Mr. Jelly, it's an easy win. If you can curse AND poison him, it's even faster. If you can curse AND poison AND ignite him it's amazingly fast. Just add Dark Retribution, and you won't believe how quickly he dies, it's staggering. Solo it's somewhere around a minute to beat him without curse vials. With curse vials it's got to somewhere closer to 30 seconds.

I have fought him lots of times, and I still enjoy the challenge of taking as little damage as possible. I have even managed to fight him without taking any damage at all (still have not gone all three floors without damage.. :( ). I have killed him... ~45 times? Still fun and challenging enough to keep it interesting in 4 star gear that only has piercing resistance on the helmet. I don't even know what it would be like in full piercing resistant gear. Probably so easy it would be boring, so I'll keep my jelly-wimpy outfit and keep fighting him.

Good luck, let me know if you want me to help you out some time. in game name: yvanblo

Vials are good.

They're not crucial to victory, but coming in with a full set of vials and being able to constantly having JK under some sort of status really helps. Curse especially, in the 3rd stage when he turns red and spins around, if you curse him right before that he'll basically kill himself for you.

Also, a nightblade is extremely useful vs. JK. The charge attack doesn't really knock him back but he's so big that if you place the charge right he'll take the damage from the slash and the 3 explosions. What I do is kite while charging, run up and smack him, then run back and repeat. JK will always attack the nearest person, so running up and spamming combos isn't always the best thing. I've had runs where I wouldn't take a single hit from JK, and have killed him just with charges.

Teamates

I would recommend doing a RJP run with someone who has a Fang of Vog, because the charge attack can be devastating on Royal Jelly. Your loadout seems fine to me, as you have the piercing defense and shadow weapon. The nightblade charge is great (as mentioned earlier).

good way to solo

starve the thing. kill all the minis first, they heal him.

he can only absorb so many at a time, i recommend a good bomb.

the bombs from crimson hammer don't hit the mini jellys, btw.

Ideal Loadout (For Me)

-Deadly Virulusk Mask
-Skolver Coat

-Glacius
-Gran Faust
-Biohazard
-Acheron

-Swiftstrike Buckler

-1 Penta Heart Pendant
-1 Elite Quick Strike Module/ 1 Elite Slash Module

Others might have different opinions, but I like this loadout because it is fun and pretty easy to use.
