for Armors and weapons, I really need to know if you like using swords in CQC or guns straight up their face in CQC
overall, I would say use a brandish, it's very good for dealing damage, and the upgrades have great status inducing charge attacks (not nightblade though). also, keep in mind that you should keep a gun that's good for ranged combats versus rocket puppies or just regular puppies. you do NOT want to walk into a field of gun puppies, so you should stay far and shoot with a Argent peacemaker, or perhaps an elemental alchemer. I used to be a full swordsman, but now I've started in gunning. with all of my gunning armor and trinkets, since the firestorm citadel has LOTS of zombies, I just stick my blitz needle into their faces when it's charged up. does 15 shots, and huge amount of damage.
As for armors, I really don't care about defense, I only use my armors for the bonuses. as a gunner, I use shadowsun series for the medium damage bonus per piece. it enables me to get a very high damage bonus from only my armor. for a swordsman, I would recommend skolver if you spam charge attacks, for the extra damage (it's really fun and effective). for a person who goes in a hits em alot, I would say vog cub. it has a medium attack speed increase per piece, which enables you to hit a target multiple times before they start attacking you. when they attack, just move back, and strike again when they're done.
Hope this helps, since I have alot of experience in Spiral Knights gameplay
My general advice is to look at the wiki, read various guides, and select the 5-star items you want. Then, and only then, look back in their alchemy paths and figure out how to get their precursors. And now I shall intentionally thwart Pelakas. :)
Hi All,
Q1) most ppl been saying that a lot of normal defense exists in the game - becos when this game first developed, more of the enemies dealt normal damage. however, others have also said that - even now - normal damage still exists in the game, even at tier 3. but given that normal damage is probably less of a deal now, and that a lot of strata has enemies dealing two kinds of damage (eg elemental and piercing), would that not mean that in choosing helms and armours, one should have 1/4 normal, 1/2 for the damage that is the predominant damage type in the strata (eg 1/2 piercing armour for JK), and the last 1/4 to be the secondary-damage type (eg in JK level, other than piercing, elemental damage from constructs is also common) - what do you ppl think ?
Q2) how do i make a new post ? i cant seem to find the button that allows me to make a new post. hence. i been tagging on ppl's post. sorry :(
thanks for the replies :)
On the forum section, above the page numbers and on the right-hand side, there is a button which says 'New Topic'.
On the other question:
It's hard to manage this (in fact, I think, impossible), but I'd say half normal and half main damage type (eg. piercing in the RJP) would be better. Defence doesn't actually do much help - even full normal resistance would still let in tons of damage - so, for this reason, most people have offensive armours instead (eg. Wolver, Spiral Demo, Gunslinger).
TL;DR It can't be done, use stat bonus armours instead.
Yes, even in Tier 3, even at this point in the game's development, there is still a lot of normal damage flying around. You should always have some normal armor on, and your shield should always have some normal protection for itself.
The normal+special+special+otherspecial armor sets can be constructed, using the three armor sets that offer non-normal protection (Radiant Silvermail, Divine, and Dragon Scale). But I don't recommend it. It's not clear that this idea is really optimal, and this idea requires you to get a variety of weird armors that may not be widely useful. So, as Raisinfist said, just go for normal+normal+special+special.
ah yes. i realize i may not have been clear - but i was referring to the non-normal armour offering dual damage protection (without normal resistence - eg divine). so yes, it sounds like its normal+normal+special+special. appreciate the feedback as usual, Bopp. and thanks Raisinfist :)
At least usually. With a term as broad as that most people will suggest you go swords. If you do, the wolver line of armor/helmets are good for you, as are the various swords in the game.
If you want more in depth information, look at the wiki and read the various sword guides. I predict Bopp will come in and tell you to read his sword guide (which a good source of information and advice). Other than that, we're going to need more info.
