I was installing the latest patch and this is what happened:Unable to download the necessary files after five attempts.

We were unable to download the necessary files after five attempts. You can try running the application again,but if it fails you may need to uninstall and re install.

Well I did try later but no results the message kept appearing. I run Spiral Knights through steam. And do I need uninstall SK from Steam and then re-install it again for it to work properly again, or just wait it out and hopefully it will work?

Im getting the same issue on

Im getting the same issue on steam. I tried re installing the game twice and it hangs at 90% every time. Any idea what we need to do? Just wait??

Pretty much the same.

Pretty much the same. Re-installed, verified game cache, but now I can't even get the patcher to show up. I click play (through Steam), it does the little text box saying it is starting up, then nothing ever shows, and it eventually sends me back to merely being online, not in game.

FOUND THE SOLUTION

Ok guys I was messing with steam and found the error. Just restart your steam and that should work.

Found out it can't overwrite files in use, so I killed all instances of Java and ran the launcher again. I'm on Steam but it probably works for standalone client, too.

My launcher doesnt show up

My launcher doesnt show up either, Steam says im playing spiral knights, and then 2 secs later it doesnt.

resolving downloads

I have a similar problem, but the game is stuck at resolving downloads and won't go anywhere; uninstalling and reinstalling didn't seem to work; from steam.

Same problem here, no matter

Same problem here, no matter how many times I try it gets to 90% and then fails to finish patching. I have tried reinstalling, killing java.exe before hand, and restarting steam. Everything, nothing works.

Greetings,

Anyone still having trouble patching their game at this point and has already performed a complete uninstall/reinstall should post their launcher.log file for more help.

What is a complete uninstall/reinstall?
This only applies to Steam users on Windows computers:

  1. In the Steam Library, right click Spiral Knights and choose "Delete local content..."
  2. Navigate to where the Spiral Knights installation was (usually C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/spiral knights/)
  3. Delete any leftover files in this folder
  4. Re-install Spiral Knights on Steam normally

Where is the launcher.log file?
This will be in your Spiral Knights installation folder.
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Application Data\LocalLow\spiral
Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\LocalLow\spiral
Windows Steam: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights
OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/spiral/
OS X Steam: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/spiral knights

I am in the folder you told

I am in the folder you told me to get and I can't find the Launcher.log file anywhere :/ I did the complete uninstall and reinstall as you suggested, and it seemed to patch past 90% this time, but it stopped and gave me the same error.

How do you uninstall and reinstall? I'm on a Mac OS X, and do you mean by putting it in the trash or what?

When you are on steam, in

When you are on steam, in your library you gotta right click(However you do that on a mac) spiral knights and click delete local content. That will 'uninstall' the game. Then go to the folder that the admin told you, and delete anything left in there, then just re download it through steam.

This did not fix it for me.

Heilos, excuse me for I am

Heilos, excuse me for I am very agitated with this nonsense from a simple game patch and now losing effectively 2 days on my brand new elevator pass that has gotten almost no use, because the lag made it impossible to play prior, and your patch made the game impossible to even launch properly now.

Please reiterate, you want me to post my projectx.log from when I attempt to INSTALL, or PATCH the game? Please try to be more clear as they are very different terms.

Also after I restarted my computer, in a last ditch effort to fix this, I am having a new issue. It's now stuck saying "validateing.... 74%" and won't move. Sometimes it jumps back to 59% and then does nothing.

A. All elevator passes have been extended by 2 days
B. If you cannot patch the game you should reinstall first. If that doesn't work you should post whatever the projectx.log says.
