I'm a bit confused here, and have a few questions.

ANSWERED1. Does MAX resistance to a status totally eliminate the possibility of getting the status only in lockdown?

ANSWERED 2. Does a set of armor like Vog armor and helm have MAX resistance or does only one piece of armor have it?

ANSWERED3. Is shadow lair profitable?

ANSWERED4. Can you be immune to a status in the clockworks- Needs more info

ANSWERED5. Can damage defense bars go more than the box and still give more protection?

ANSWERED6. Is it better to hold ce instead of cr or cr instead of ce? EXAMPLE: every time you get enough cr, you buy 100 ce and save it up.

Graveyarded until other questions come up.

basically no

First off, read the wiki page "Abilities", if you haven't already. Defensive abilities work quite differently from offensive abilities. They stack differently, and Maximum! means something totally different for them.

"1. Does MAX resistance to a status totally eliminate the possibility of getting the status only in lockdown?"

Do you mean an armor piece with a Maximum! UV for that status? That's +4 resistance, which is nowhere near enough to make you immune from anything (in the Clockworks at least).

Do you mean that when you look at your character window, your display bar for that status is full? That happens around +8. In the Clockworks at least, status resistance beyond +8 is possible and is meaningful --- it protects you more than +8 does --- even though it is not displayed.

"2. Does a set of armor like Vog armor and helm have MAX resistance or does only one piece of armor have it?"

Each piece of Vog Cub gives you +4 fire resistance. Together they give you +8 fire resistance. This is not maximum in any sense; you can go above that, by having fire UVs or wearing fire trinkets.

There are different levels of status: for example Voltaic tempest has "minor shock", but Polaris description shows a "moderate shock" As of now, people have proven to be 100% immune only to "minor" versions of a status. Full immunity is impossible even in LD.

Thanks, but I have another question that follows up with this

Can you be immune to anything in the clockworks with the right amount of resistance?

Vanaduke's "fire snakes"

3. I don't think so. The 5* mats / unbinding exclusive armors as the highest potential to make profit, get lower and lower price each day. However, shadow lair is definitely a fresh breath for new challenge after doing 99999999 vanaduke runs. Also doing your own shadow lair run is the most cheapest way to craft those exclusive armor sets.

4. Based on my experience, no. I have 2 max status from armor + UV fire med, still got burned by any kind of fire attack at vana. However, the success chance and duration are reduced significantly with high status resistance.

5. yes, ancient set for example, the normal defense bars actually exceeds the display bar

right

I agree with the answers given. As far as I know, no player perfectly understands how damage/status resistances work in Spiral Knights armor, but it seems that:

* As you add more armor, your damage/status resistances go up, so that the display bars seem to add nicely.

* But the actual effect you get from these display bars does not exactly add --- the benefit of longer bars becomes smaller and smaller.

* But nobody has reached a point where additional defense offers no benefit --- it does seem that longer bars mean more protection.

In short, this situation is known as "diminishing returns": More armor is better, but not as much better as you might think.

missed one

"Is it better to hold ce instead of cr or cr instead of ce? EXAMPLE: every time you get enough cr, you buy 100 ce and save it up."

As in any market, you want to buy low and sell high. Right now CE prices are high (compared to history), so buy only the CE that you need. Wait for a special promotion or rule change to bring the price of CE down; then buy as much CE as you can afford. Of course, I could be wrong; maybe prices will just keep climbing. ;)

I hold crowns because the CE price has been a bit too high for my taste. You have to watch the market actually. Buy low, sell high. When you look at 8k CE price, you can see it as one of two ways: 1) Worst time to buy CE or 2) Best time to sell CE. Now, I would hold onto crowns. If you see the CE price hover around 7.3k or 7.4k, I would hold onto CE.

Also, Shadow Lairs are somewhat profitable actually. You have to split the cost of the Key though. Split evenly between 4 players, and it comes to about 30,000 crowns. The Shadow Lair itself is about 12k crowns on average. The mats tend to have a variable price. Celestial Ore (Ice Queen) is the worst selling, and hits around 12k on a REALLY good day. Nightmare Mane (Rabid Snarbolax) is next best (or second worst), selling for about 20k on a good day. Strangely, Maiden's Tears (Darkfire Vanaduke) are the second best, hitting around 25k on a good day, sometimes approaching 35k. The best is Gremlonium (Red Roarmulus Twins), which goes for about 30k, although I've seen it get past 65k.

Combine them together, and Shadow Lairs range from slightly unprofitable to more profitable than FSC. I've heard stories of late-game players farming Shadow Lairs instead of FSC, and making spectacular profit.

6. Assuming there will be no

6. Assuming there will be no promos in nearby future, yes, you should hold ce, because when it will be expensive, you can sell it and make profit out of it.

Well, right now its better to hold crowns. CE is costly, and isn't dropping ever. OOO however, will likely save us at some point. And if OOO doesn't, then some P2Per with six million ce will step in, hopefully.

If CE is cheaper, its better to stock up on that however.
