Rather than reducing elevator cost after the proverbial doo-doo hits the fan from a patch.
Make elevator cost 0 every time a patch is released until it is known to be operating properly.
This allows any damages suffered by people currently playing to be offset, rather than later when damage has already been done and you might not get the benefit of the elevators due to not playing at the proper time.
If we are to be beta players, we should be awarded; not frustrated.

The technicalities of releasing a patch are beyond my understanding, but from what I've seen, they aren't easy, and often times have extended repercussions. Expecting the worst is only natural. Show due diligence to the nature of this problem. An ounce of prevention....
Giving reason for players to stay on the game is not how to fix a problem which is going to kick them off to fix anyway. A rollback to when the patch was slapped on would undo whatever happened in the few minutes between a problem arising and opening the server for business.
