Hola people. I was playing the other day and was thinking (i know this post has been talked over before..) OOO should make a form of Spiral Knights on like ipod touches, iphones, wiis, ds's. and stuff like that. you could snyc the consoles to your computer somehow, like maybe a USB port of some kind? but anyway I was thinking if OOO designed a Spiral Knights for the Wii then you could have all sorts of action. (im a Wii user myself so im reallly hoping for something to come out on anything - even if i dont have the console cuz my friend probably has one) OOO, this is directed to you guys. sometimes people are on a trip and cant bring their laptop/computer along, or their in their car for along time. a handheld would be much easier and has a longer battery life (usually). thx for ur consideration (taken from the hunger games) and maybe others can enjoy a new way of enjoying spiral knights!
Spiral Knights - Onto consoles
No. Just no. They should work more on fixing all bugs and adding major content, not hiring other people and pay them to port and completely rewrite the game to 3ds.
persoanly the only bug i can see fixing now is the Lag other than that im not saying proting the game to 3ds its a sujestion. whats wrong with hireing a few people to port. just becuse you have problems with the game doesnt mean everyone does ^^ that your just fighting my point. its an idea. hell minecraft did it for xbox and ipod.
Sure, but the iOS and Android one is the 3 year old classic Minecraft which sucks because you can do bugger all and it's free on the website and the Xbox version is a year behind, has some pretty bad bugs, and had to be shipped out to a small independent development studio to be developed for a year.
And you guys forget that SK is an MMO. Syncing cross-platform builds is a nightmare.
Welp, you have to understand Java in order to understand how hard this is. Java is a cross platform language: you can compile it once, than it will usually run perfectly fine on Windows, GNU/Linux, and Mac. A .jar file is what is a global code, which is feed into a virtual machine processor, which transforms the commands in the program into language that the processor can understand and run.
Now, this virtual machine thingy is what is the key part: it is released by the Java developers, not Three Rings. In theory, SK will run on virtually any device that there is a virtual machine processor for, so you should be asking the Java developers for a port of Java to different systems, not Three Rings.
That said, I would enjoy playing SK on my Wii. You can plug in a keyboard, so that could be used for chatting. The closest thing we have right now to playing on a console is plugging in a console controller, suc
I think that this is perfect, it might be hard to put together, but as auto said, it's very possible!
I propose the Wii U for this duty, sega is owned by Nintendo, so no problem with ownage rights, a virtual machine could be constructed for the wii U, the nintendo E-shop could distribute the software, the touchpad would work as a keyboard, but the controller has a mic anyway, so voice chat like what is offered by steam is possible, it would give both the Wii U and spiral knights VERY positive publicity and with the amount of buttons on that thing, ( oh BELIEVE ME,) a good and maybe even customisable control scheme is possible.
Any interjections? Alright, let's get at it.
Hear hear!
Frop out-
"I propose the Wii U for this duty, sega is owned by Nintendo (...)"
Amazing, so the rumour about Nintendo buying out SEGA escalated to people saying that SEGA is owned by Nintendo? Holy moly.
How about PS3? Controls will be cooler and easier to manage.
How would you communicate?
Oh, and Paweu, I got that information from the OFFICIAL Nintendo magazine of Australia, I don't yet doubt my sources.
Funny you say that yet no site on the internet mentions anything about Nintendo actually buying SEGA. That waste of wood should be demoted from the "official" title or you should maybe stop lying. One of those, for sure.
If there'd be Java on consoles, this is totally possible. But seriously, no. Unless it'd require very little effort and not take the devs too much time. SK is in dire need of improvement.
OUYA
coming out march 2013, cant wait for it to arrive on my doorstep :D
Anyway, it supports Unity3d (oh yea!) and cause its Andriod based, it should support Java games as well.
www.ouya.tv
Developers should really look into it as its a dev friendly console.
OFFICIAL nintendo magazine? That was Nintendo Power. And we all know what happened to them. /cry
You guys forget about all the features that NEED a keyboard, and do you think the whole page would fit on the screen of a DS or Ipod? I mean come on, try fitting the arsenal, social, character, and all that other crap onto the screen, but if it wasn't so small I would like the idea.
You could add it to an Android Tablet :)
oh yea.... another console to keep in mind.
Steam Box. They might support SK when they hit the T.V.s
"You guys forget about all the features that NEED a keyboard"
Really, which ones? All the tabs could be easily remade into a menu system, and there are more buttons on a standard controller than there are controls in SK. Typing? Ask Valve. They seem to have that down.
i know i'm sorta late to this, but what about the playstation vita? i think the controls would be great for this on the vita, and things like messaging can be done using the virtual keyboard. also, it'd be great to play it anywhere online using the 3g network on the vita. one of the only things that would be sort of tricky would be sincing the game to the server of the pc version, but other than that, i think it's a good idea at least. i can also name alot of games that have portable versions of themselves that can play with the pc counterparts.
Console = another server
OCH works differently, promos would too, it would be another game to maintain and get people attracted to it...
3DS = no
Xbox one/PS4 indie game = sure why not
The only one that would make seance is the steam box as it is already on steam, for all we know the steam box will just have key boards for controllers (not a bad thing)
I think the Xbox 360/One would be able to do the job MUCH easier than PS3/4 for the following reasons.
Xbox is a LOT cheaper.
Xbox actually has a keyboard that you can buy and attach to the controller.
Xbox controllers easily port over to pc and controls are pretty smooth. Porting the control scheme to Xbox 360/One will be really easy for devs.
I know you have to pay for gold on Xbox, but honestly, on any video game, who HASENT spent money on a game?
+1 for the idea
Oh god, is this going to become one of those freaking arguments were people fight over what the best "console" is?
Waiting for some one to say " Make it available on fb "
Oh. You necro'd this thread. All of the people that left the game, so many old friends that I haven't seen in so long. It's kind of sad. Why would you necro this thread?
It'd be nice on both Xbox and PS (so stop fighting children, you can both have a sweety). I think it'd suit Xbox more (PS suits more serious gaming...Xbox is more fun) but PS users shouldn't be left out.
The little bit more attention the game would get would mean it would be able to afford to put more money into fixing the bugs (because let's face it, nearly all PS users by the ad-ons for most of their games). I don't think investing into being playable on multiple consoles is a bad idea.
Damn, this threads been up since 2012, also -1, OOO has enough on their hands with PC
I love this game and I think the best way to improve it is to expand to the next-gen consoles. Its a great idea
It could totaly work for 3Ds with the circle pad to move . L and R buttons as attack/switch (the gun system is kinda taken from MGS3d snake eater) the the ABYX buttons for aiming with guns and such (or even the touch screen) and it has internet. (you could put a little bar at the top of teh touch screen to touch when you want to type a messege).
the wii it would probly work the most with. only problem i could see is some people not likeing the controlls or im not sure if its just mine but my wii never had a good internet signle.
ipod could be a little difficult but still could work.
but the 3Ds i have been workign on theorys since i got mine! i hope the admins look at this X) but i 100 percent agree!
