Crimson Hammer key!
The idea is simple, just a player would need a key that would cost ~500ce witch would unlock one of "Operation Crimson Hammer" teirs permanently!
why 500ce? Because you wold need 1500 ce for unlocking every teir in "Operation Crimson Hammer" and in money to ce price it would be almost exact as the price of "Operation Crimson Hammer".
Operation Crimson Hammer for free users.
I doubt they will do this, but they mentioned in the look forward that they might make OCH giftable :)
If you have Steam, you already can do this.
If it were this simple, they would've already done it in a less convoluted way.
OCH is $6.
The most common purchase is the $10 pack.
0.6*3500=2100ce
That would be 700ce for each tier.
How the hell do you expect T1 and T2 players to pay 700ce?
1500 energy IS required to purchase those keys....
I don't...this is the suggestions forum so that is what i made,a suggestion. And as for steam thing, yes i do use steam with SK but like most of the players in the game,i don't have a credit card (yet that is) so even if i have more then 6$ in my pocket i can't use it for payment of the OCH online...
If you're on Steam, you can use Steam Trade to buy the DLC with in-game currencies. Just post an offer in the Bazaar or Haven 1 and you'll get an offer.
Actually, OOO already has announced something like that. Check around the "what is in development" threads.
Let's change it so we need to buy it and we need shadow keys to get in!
Duke, most of players play "spiral knights" not "steam knights" so you can put your "omgz its on steamzzz" in your socks.
They did annouced it but are they really going to do it? Or maybe they put it there to make people kill topics like this with "oh but they said its in developement".
if you see it now. most people have swtich their spiral knights to steam account. and the guy said he has steam. so really their is no need for him to "put it in his socks"
How about allow OCH owners to invite right about anyone once a new pay-to-play DLC is released.
The expansion pack includes all future expansions they may add. If a new one were released it would be part of the package.
I know that, that's why I said:
If you have Steam, you can already do this.
If it were this simple, they would've already done it in a less convoluted way.
OP revealed (s)he's a F2P Steam user who wants to buy the "DLC" with CE. I'm saying how the OP can already do that. The rest of that post is just me poking holes in the math and logic.
I'm perfectly aware that you still can't be F2P and have OCH if you're not on Steam, but Valve is their valued partner and most knights used Steam, so it makes sense to do that first. OOO says they're developing it for their client, and the only thing you can do is wait or move on, and OOO has a track record of (eventually) keeping their promises. They're handling like 4 MMOs right now, so forgive them if making heavy changes to make old content slightly more available at limited profit isn't the highest of their priorities. They even said that purchasing OCH isn't treated like ce packs and elevator passes, if that's a hint as to why it might be slightly more complicated than just making another key.
It probably has something to do with how royalties are calculated for the DLC. Most likely some of the developers for the DLC earn percentage based royalties off of it and the only way for OOO to keep track of how much they earn off the DLC is have it be a separate package for players to buy. If it was bought with CE then this raises the problem of how to split that money between those who invested in the original game and those who invested in the expansion pack if that CE is used to buy the expansion pack in the future.
Just buy it. Getting the key is the same thing as a reduced cost. If you want it, go buy it. The rewards are pretty worth it.
That OCH was from very beginning planned to be P2P ONLY of for steam puppies. IF OOO would care for ALL their players they would make it suitable for CE purchase (not unlockable with purchase) from very beginning. OCH could have been made JUST LIKE shadow lairs. But no, OOO wanted to make it in hard way and pretend "oh noez its zo hard to make it tradeable/available within official client and for F2P players"
It could be made in same way as Shadow Lairs are. You enter OCH lobby, you use an item that you buy with CE from VENDOR (and item is bound to you after purchase) that unlocks elevator down to OCH. If you dont have key, you wont unlock elevator.
And to post above mine. You even tried to read topic? Suggesting "OMGZ JUST BUY IT" for a person asking to make OCH acesible to everyone ( NOT FREE FOR EVERYONE) is just dumb from your side.
And to OP, if it would be made that way, the KEY would have to cost at least 2000CE since its the estimated OCH value in CE (based on $$$ CE prices)
It's Zeph the anti-F2P Virulisk.
What else would you ecpect from him?
If its free then what would happen to our money we bought it for 5.95 and it's not that much. Also it's actually worth it cuz rewards are good, well if you think it's a rip off thats your problem and we all like it so looks like your the only one complaining.
And if it's for free users than its basically saying you don't support spiral knights.
Are you sure you should be making these statements?
Most of the Game is filled with F2Ps. We love this game. We want to play OCH. So if you don't know what you're talking about after playing for like a week, log off and play football. We may or may not have the credit cards or we can't afford it. We can't play a part of the game equally, with weapons that can 1KO you? YEAH, that's fair. Only steamers can trade it. So we should get a way to get it on client and Kongrate.
So if F2P want it, it's basically We don't support OOO. Just log off.
It felt like a bait and switch when they changed expansions to Pay only. So yes, we will complain.
I would say not to make it free, but make it tradeable like useables and it binds on equipping. You can only equip one only and you can trade it with others. So
what do you mean by post an offer on bazaar? do u mean by /trade or /z or do u mean something else?
Want to buy Operation crimson hammer?
1) Make a offer that you would like to buy Operation Crimson Hammer for 1500 CE.
2) Purchase the expansion with real money.
3) Go to Haven and make a offer
4) If none of these work, then I cannot help.
There is no good reason for the OCH expansion (or any other update) not being available for every F2P player out there. While I'd personally prefer a fixed CE price, making expansions tradeable between players - all of them, not only those using Steam (not everyone wants or can play on Steam) - would be fine with me as well.
It's great that some players can acquire this content for free but it's simply not enough as long as some are left out in the rain. Denying a significant subset of the community this content (both the mission itself as well as the rewards) effectively removes the F2P status from the game (at least in my book). We're not talking vanity or convenience items here - for which paying real money is absolutely fine as far as I'm concerned. This is content and equipment that some people simply cannot access, placing them at a certain disadvantage (no matter to what extent) compared to paying players.
I stopped playing on the day the OCH Update hit the servers. I wasn't entirely F2P myself (having purchased a few elevator passes) and wouldn't have minded paying for the expansion if there had been the possibility of getting it for free (my time is not worthless, just making a point here). I'm on Linux and won't be using Steam even when it becomes available, thus effectively forcing me to pay for content relevant to the story line and denying me of several pieces of equipment. I signed up for an F2P game and can't see myself playing again as long as OOO keeps going down that road.
PATV also did an episode on microtransactions and on the importance of F2P players to a game such as SK. It's certainly worth watching (as are most of the other episodes) and I can only recommend it - especially to those people apparently looking down on F2P players. http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/microtransactions
Oh wow, look at asian server, without any fuss and big preparations they have OCH avaliable for buy with CE. They have feature that OOO is supposed to work on since months now and they were not even sure if its possible to do.
Can somebody (maybe even someone from OOO) confirm that purchasing OCH with CE is possible on the asian server?
How long has this been possible? If it is due to a recent update we might get that option soon enough ourselves. If it is indeed possible on the asian server, an ETA would be appreciated.
Does OOO even run those servers? Frankly, it sounds like they don't.
It's similar to going to one McDonalds and demanding the same sale as the McDonalds down the street, despite the fact that the two franchises are owned by different people - and neither of them McDonalds Corp.
If I read the situation right, Sega owns SK, and OOO is just one of the franchisers. They would thus be under no obligation to do whatever another franchiser decides to do.
While that might be true, OOO mentioned several months ago they we're working on making a mechanism such as this possible on here. And while the Asian server obviously is managed by a different publisher, it's still the same game. So it should be possible for OOO to provide OCH and other expansions to free users by means of CE, at least from a technical point of view. No one said they have an obligation to do so, just that such a decision would make quite a few people happy.
I find it kinda strange how people make threads but never comment on them themselves.
Teddy, Three Rings owns Spiral Knights. Sega owns Three Rings Design. Sega is also the publisher of the USA/EU version (this one) of Spiral Knights. There's some different publisher for the other game of Spiral Knights, which is still developed by Three Rings.
Asian server already has this. No reason for OOO not to incorporate apart from (OH LOOK SEGA!) wanting monehs.
Not a problem though... not everyone needs a hammer.
Expansion suggestions can be suggested in the forums too, so we can add more expansions to the pack
SEGA wanting moneys or just OOO(SEGA) selling their sould to STEAM and making sure steam players can obtain it only with money (along with all other players) in other words - screwing over players.
i think making the operation crimson hamme rkey available is a great idea of course not free but for myself i have no way of supporting the game at the moment tho if i could well i would have already payed that 6$ a long long time ago and maybe bought a few thousand of hundreds of ce and if not purchasable then like a lucky item at either lock down after bribing the krogmo king or when descending into the clockworks or maybe a reward for doing a shadow lair and for t1 and t2 players this will encourage then to become t3 quickly which means they have to buy more ce and craft more items which ultimately makes the donors themselves happy also thats what i think:D
i sujest no. its only what $5 to get the full thing. if your a free user technecly you dont support the game. now if you absolutly have no way of buying CE then i can understand you still support the game. but if your saying "free user" as in just not buying crimson hammer. they just save up the money anyway. you can pay $2 or even $5 to get CE and use another $5 for the DLC. its not that expencive. another fact is most people already have the DLC.
im sorry if sounded rude but i really dont see the profit in this.
