Obviously it means they have taught more monsters how to dodge, given most monsters a lunge type of attack, and now sword swings can deflect projectiles.
Finally they might fix the complete overpowered-ness of gunners!

but it would also be great if we could get forms of pets that change from cute cuddly character to fearsome beasts when they eat something like in fate i loved that game

You can already deflect rockets from gun puppies to a degree. With a shield i mean.
