The game doesnt update.

Hi!

I`m unable to download the latest patch. The remaining time counter just increases and that`s all. I`m stuck at 74%. Currently it shows 40 minutes remaining.

OS: Ubuntu x86_64
java version "1.6.0_26"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03)

I`m launching game through browser. Tried using Google-chrome, Firefox, clearing cache and data - nothing works.
Downloading the game installer doesnt work too, it took me more than a minute to download a 300kb installer.

All other websites are working fine, SK forums and website is working fine - so that is not a problem with my internet.

A friend of mine, who is using Windows XP and has a different internet provider confirms the situation.

Any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem.
Mine gets stuck ~70, too. However, it managed to start up once, but once I entered my login information, it took me to a screen where it said "Please wait while we download the rest of the game" and it got stuck at ~70 again.
I'm running Win7, and I've been running the game absolutely perfectly before the newest patch without any problems. I actually did a JK run this morning, went to do exams, came back, and it wouldn't work.
I left it for 45 minutes or so, and it went up to 86, but even if I let it load long enough, it'll probably take me to the same screen as before.
I uninstalled Java, re-installed the newest version, deleted all the spiral knights files off my computer, re-downloaded, nothing's worked. I've tried with various browsers, still no luck.
I hope this doesn't last for long, because I have an elevator pass which is going to run out in a few days.

multiple browsers tried, after an hour I'm up to 85% (downloads started at 70%, slowed to a crawl at 72%)

this is somewhat ridiculous as I have steam downloading TF2 at 1.2 MB/s at the same time

It works for me... kinda.

I just tried out my laptop, which hasn't updated its java in a few months, and it works for some reason. Its windows 7, like my desktop, and its also got lower specs, so there is no reason why my desktop shouldn't be able to run it.
My laptop is slightly laggy, and it's irritating to play with a trackpad, and it would be a waste of my elevator pass if I didn't play. There's something clearly wrong with this new patch if it's not working for us, especially if it was working fine less than a day ago...

Sorry for the double post,
I'm going to try copying my spiral knights files from my laptop and transfer them to my desktop.

EDIT: Yes, it worked!
I think there might be something in the ToS against transferring SK files online, so try and install it on another computer, and replace your current one with that one. My SK folder was found in:
C:\Users\main\AppData\LocalLow
But I'm on Win7, so It will probably be slightly different for you guys.

well

it's nice to know it's happening again to the same people, which means there's some incompatibility or issue in the patch. especially since it's across OS types.

Just updated java to version 1.60_33

got to 72% in safari, spiked. got to 97% in firefox, spiked. about to test chrome

edit: chrome appears spiking at 77%

I think they messed up their updater in some way.

Still stuck at 97%, 120 minutes remaining and counter going up all the time.

I`m using chrome, btw. It is not an issue with browser, but with their code.

I wish they at least have responded to any of the messages, so that we know that they are looking into the problem. Otherwise it looks like they dont really care.

yeah

I just like testing to be sure it's not on this end. But to be honest, I don't remember the last time I saw an admin post in this forum. And they hardly gave any feedback when Battle Network came out and it crashed every mac user who had not upgraded to Lion. The minority that has problems aren't their priority

I have the same issue after the latest patch.
The updater is stuck at 90%

Do note that I did not have this issue with the last patch. Also, I am on Windows 7 for reference and using Steam to access the game.

hmm

what's his OS? we do have several versions you know :P but then it may be some specific setting in the browsers, or the java versions may act differently. since I don't know his version or OS it's hard to say.

but on a whim just now I tried to update my steam alt, and it took less than two minutes

edit: oh crap. you've got to be kidding me. My browser-based just finished (using firefox), and the first message I read: the patch is broken and will be fixed shortly. which means another patch.

Hi,
Game not uploading is definitely NOT a client based bug. We players have no responsabilities for the recent flaws in game updating. For as far as I've been playing this is the first time (actually second with the one 2 weeks ago) I encounter such difficulties downloading a patch, and I started right after the end of SK beta. And if in 3 weeks time OOO couldn't bring a solution I'm afraid to say they are just powerless about it, which is even worse. I honestly don't want to wait 2 days each time there is a new unsignificant update to be able to play again. I hope OOO intend to bring some serious apologies towards this issue. Simple curiosity, which region are the unlucky players playing from? I'm playing from Europe, I'd like to know if this is "worldwide" or if then again it's just a complete lack of support and care for side communities.

Most probably a server issue, since the update client automatically detects the player's region to determine from which server to download the update. I even wonder how the European server handles its players if it can't even handle the game updates. Besides, before the opening of the European server I would have never experienced such issue (just an overwhelming latency due to the distance with the US server).

ive tryed steam and the actual website downloads and neither work - im currently on 97% with 208 hours to go. im using chrome and ive reinstalled SK and java - so its not just you guys suffering

"Greetings again, We are aware of a few bug reports and the forum posts but as a matter of fact this is the only in-game request on this issue. The developers are aware that some players are experiencing problems with the download and are looking into it as a top priority. Hopefully they'll be able to find a solution very soon! I'll leave this petition open and update when we have more information."

We can go sleep now :) At least this is what im going to do now :) I hope they fix this by the time i get back online.
