Short rant here, just thought I'd share. Earlier today I was playing a mission. usually I prefer to play the missions solo, but today I had a partner with me. Don't get me wrong, this guy was pretty good... when he worked. However, the majority of the mission, he hung behind, smashing blocks and collecting small crowns while i busted my ass fighting. Halfway through the mission I found myself with half a bar of health left and no healing items at my disposal. The guy next to me, of course had not only full health, but a significantly greater amount of it. He also made a point to steal every health item that was rightfully earned by me. So my basic point of this rant is, SK, and all MMO's in general, require some amount of courtesy between players, especially in co-op missions. so please, if you see your partner has lower health than you, or even if they are a, uh, less-quality player, give them a break and let em have a health item or two, and if theyre in a tough situation, make a point to save their ass at least once, I'm sure they'll return the favor someday.

You could have helped him break all those blocks and bushes, and then he would have been with you during the fights.
Personally, I play primarily on mist, and like to get every last crown out of it. I'm one of those people who stay back and smash EVERY last bush. Just because I want that one crown. Or a heart, for that matter.
Sure, he could have helped more, but you could have waited too. You only get 100 mist a day, and there's no need to rush. Enjoy the scenery!
It goes without saying, "If you scratch my back, I will scratch yours"
Hang in there, there are those that make adventuring a real pleasure.
I do that too. Most people tend to be very impatient (such as the OP) and instead go ahead and try and clear the level themselves, rather than helping the person clean the level of crowns and then go fight the monsters together.
For the record, (fully, and in both pure swords and pure guns) 5* guy here.
I strongly agree that your partner should have shared pills with you. It's what I would do.
Do note, however, that if you're taking a lot of damage and dying a lot, at some point the expert player will stop giving you pills and reviving you, because you are actually endangering him.
I agree with Theopholis, that you could have helped him slash bushes, instead of charging into battle alone and taking damage. Give him what he wants from the expedition, and maybe you'll improve the two-way courtesy.
He also made a point to steal every health item that was rightfully earned by me.
And hung back breaking stuff to the point that it seemed slanted?
Its unfortunate when playstyles clash but part of this story just sounds dubious...I have a hard time securing a pill as a gunner if I'm even 3 squares behind the worst of players until they meet their quota of 3.

I play on mist energy too, and i also try to get every crown i can, but I always start smashing blocks and bushes AFTER all the enemies in the area are killed, and this guy was doing it while I was still battling. You know, it's sometimes hard to collect crowns when my top priority is survivng the battle. of course I don't rush through the map, after all, we only get 100 energy a day. I do make the most of it, but I also do my part in co-op missions. and yeah, i can see how he would stop if I kept dying, but he never even started, he just used up all his pills when he had taken one damage, so his inventory never filled.
and yeah, I probably could have said something at some point to him... that I will admit
Another thing you could do, is fade back to him. Even if there are mobs in the area, if you are near him (while he is block smashing), the mobs will engage him. Thus spreading out your pain.
As someone who often lags behind a lot while the rest of the party charges ahead (mainly due to me wanting to get the perfect equipment at the start of each floor, and wanting to break every single bush, candle and block I see)...
When the party leaves me behind, I feel a mix of neglect and sadness. I also try to go for every little crown possible because well... its free money on the ground, all you got to do is hit it to make it pop out. I don't mind people running ahead and doing the killing for me, but I'll be just as happy doing the killing myself. To me, its the others players being incredibly impatient, and getting punished for said impatience.
The exception to this is in the Ironclaw Munitions Factory. I lag behind purposefully there for two reasons: 1) No one will wait if I tell them to wait. 2) about 95% of all the hazards can and will be turned off via 1 player pressing buttons or walking past certain areas. All you have to do is wait a bit for other players to do so.
Yeah, i can see how that would be smart in ironclaw. Like I said, I also pick up every crown I can find, I just do it once the area is cleared. Not the entire floor, but just that one spot, enough that i can safely pick up crowns without taking damage. I wasn't rushing through the map, I just take care of enemies first.
I love it when people break blocks or bushes. More time to run ahead and gather up mobs... then DBB, DR, or Vortex. Whichever one I'm feeling at the time.
Maybe swordies and gunners are different, though. Except Suda chargers and Biohazard lunatics. ESPECIALLY the latter. Biohazard is such fun =D
Earlier today I hung back and let my partners do all of the fighting while I smashed blocks. I prefer to do things slowly, and make all of the moneys. My party felt differently though, and jumped ahead of me. I didn't mind. It was a beast level, and I knew I could easily carry my party if need be. Of course, I'm not the knight from your post. I didn't get very many health pills or vitapods.
I used to leave slots free on my recipe runs, but rarely do anymore thanks to pill-snatchers. I too play with mist so I tend to blackhawk every bush for that extra coin, however I have a few regulars that I do runs with, and I'm always watching their health-bars and dropping a pill when I find an extra one and they look like they could use it.
I guess just make friends with people you can trust and do missions/runs via invites.
I learned something about random partying that you should listen to very carefully.

Did you die and he didn't revive you or you are in need of heat at that moment? Treat your teammates' health as yours.
Ok my mindset might be a bit weird. Personally, when i'm in a party, i am not afraid of dying. I always trust that my PUG teammates will revive me (but of course i meet some jerks before). I treat the health of the whole party as a common health pool. Generally, noone should use a pill until the very last surviving person is low in health.
Btw there is something call last stand effect. In general, you can withstand 1 last hit as long as your health is above 1 bar. You should backtrack and look for that 1 heart from the bush. Don't be upset over a pill. It spoil the fun of the game.
" he hung behind, smashing blocks and collecting small crowns"
He was just too poor and needed money.
