While I can not confirm this, I suspect the Hunting Blade is now obsolete. The piercing damage weapons will do a far better job of beast slaying than this blade, whose sole purpose is supposed to be beast slaying. To that end I suggest the Hunting Blade and Wild Hunting Blade be changed to at least 50% piercing if not all piercing like the new swords released in the Arsenal expansion.

Hunting Blade can still kill

Hunting Blade can still kill things resistant to piercing and do respectable damage to everything inbetween.

The piercing weapons cannot.

A Vile Striker can too, which is why Hunting Blade already barely sees the light of day as it is. I'm just sayin', if its designed to hunt beasts, it should be piercing damage.

You basically just want the weapon to be worse in every facet, and I'm not sure I can support that.

If by "every facet" you mean

If by "every facet" you mean "Hurting Jellies and Constructs" then yes, I want the supreme BEAST hunter to be able to hunt beasts like no other sword.

The damage difference between

The damage difference between the pure piercing weapons and the wild hunting blade is likely extremely low, and the wild hunting blade may actually be higher, due to having respectably high normal damage in addition to "High" damage bonus.

So, again, I'm indicating that you just want this weapon to be useless on everything but the smallest faction of monster.

Have you seen just how fast a Grand/Final Flourish destroys beasts? It's horrifying. Even on things neutral to Pierce damage it's probably the highest DPS sword in the game so long as it's not resistant to piercing. Hunting blade is pretty much useless now. Although it does still look cool.

Hunting blade was pretty much

Hunting blade was pretty much useless before. The OP wants it to be more useless. "Hey, let's take this very narrow-appeal weapon and make it EVEN MORE NARROW!"

It's either already useless,

It's either already useless, or your argument is flawed. Changing the type to piercing only affects 4 monster types. Bonus to Beast and Imps, penalty to Jellies and Constructs. It's performance against 1/3rd of all monsters would be unaffected. If you were using a Hunting Blade NOW on Jellies or Constructs I would claim you are doing it wrong, so really, those 1/3rd of monsters are also unaffected because you will just not use a changed Hunting Blade even more so.

Again, what I want is the supposed BEAST HUNTER to actually be the best at hunting beasts. Seems to me changing its damage type to at least 50% piercing would help with that.

The thing is, it was designed

The thing is, it was designed for killing beasts, and right now, Grand/Final Flourish does that job better. So if it stays as it is right now it's useless for everything, how's that for a narrow appeal? Oh wait, as it stands now it has no appeal. If it gets changed to have piercing damage, it might be upgraded to narrow appeal again. But that's still assuming that it will beat the Flourishes.

I agree

i agree with Lerysh. ive been playing Spiral knights for 4 mo. and ive only ever seen one person using a hunting blade. no one uses it as it is. i think that if it were changed to piercing (or normal/piercing split) it would be a more viable alternative to the flourish line.
this would also work out well with the wolver animation of the Wild Hunter Blade.
i would like to hear what the developers have to say.

its the same concept behind

its the same concept behind the Cold Iron Vanquisher. The idea is to deal more damage to a specific class of targets, without sacrificing utility against other targets.
