Please use them to save my sanity. Keep in mind that putting an image tag in the upload summary only works if you're uploading the first copy of the image and not replacing an already existing image. When replacing an image, if you need to fix the tag, you'll need to hit the edit tab for that image page.
Image tags
"Also how do we tag NPC images that are not vendors or monsters like Kora?"
I'd opt for changing the vendor tag to a general NPC tag. Or making a separate one, but that's borderline redundant imo.
Also, for anyone who wants to help with the war on untagged images, have it at. There are a LOT.
Yes, feel free to change the vendor tag into an NPC image tag.
If you spot anything that you think might be a copyright violation, feel free to leave it untagged so that I can look at it. You can also tag it with {{copyvio}} if your wiki obsessing desires require you to get it off the uncategorized files page. :)
I really think we should start deleting some of the old unlinked files before tagging everything.
If you encounter something that hasn't been used on any pages and think it could stand to be removed, you can always tag it {{unused}} to put it into a category for us to stare at later.
I've not been working on the Wiki much - just grappling with tables on our guild page - but I'd love to help out here. As I have a pedantic streak exactly a mile wide, I was hoping to clarify a few things before I start steamrolling over anything:
- Is it best to leave a note on the edit, marking it a "minor edit" with something such as "Added image tag"?
- Is there a specific tag for images only used on User Pages (à la
{{guild image}}
)? - As uncharitable it feels, I've started labelling unlinked files more than two months old with
{{unused}}
because my pedantry demands it. - If a user has uploaded a large amount of unlinked images, would it be worth contacting them?
I do hope this doesn't create more work for anybody in the long run. Any further advice is always appreciated, and if someone happens to come across a page that needs copy editing or has formatting issues, I'd love to help out.
I use minor edit and just put Tag in the edit summary because it's shorter while still conveying the same info.
There's {{character image|nameofcharacter}}. I don't really advocate using wiki user pages as a web host for highly graphical information about oneself outside of things related to SK, so that one along with the other tags for screenshots & such should cover it.
Feel free to use the unused tag on things that are unused.
Probably not worth contacting them. People have used the wiki to host SK screenshots (due to the Non-Disclosure Agreement) and contest entries since the SK previews started. There isn't really a space issue so far, so those files are fine.
Unless you're tagging incorrectly for an extended amount of items, it's not making more work.
Thanks for the clarification. I may have put a few screenshots in the unused pile last night, so I'll be a bit more discerning during the next round of tagging.
Hopefully none of the tags have been too far off so far!
You can always go with two tags {{screenshot image}} {{unused}}.
Wait how do you put a screenshot picture on the media like the rest of the pictures?
Lol you tagged like a couple hundred pics.
I'll start tagging pics I see uploaded.
Also how do we tag NPC images that are not vendors or monsters like Kora?
