Ignore UV and fund?
Hi all, I'm fairly new to Spiral Knights. In order to fun crowns (which would mean CE) should I just upgrade my gear eveon though it doesn't have any UV? Or should I just keep doing Jelly King runs and make items (that I'll use) to get UV?
I'm thinking it's better to have 4 or 5 star gear asap to effectively farm mats and crowns. Then I can focus on making final UV gear.
Oh yes, I'm currently wearing all 2* gear and a 3* armor. None of them are UVs.

Don't sweat UVs until you're already in T3, have a good stack of CE and have weapons that get you by.
It's only too soon to worry about UVs if you can't afford your next upgrades. Worry first about having solid gear, particularly weapons but at least a set of 4 star armour, and then worry about UVs on stuff.
I'm in four-star gear. As I move into five-star gear, I am *also* keeping a close eye out to replace a bit here, a bit there. This seems to be working very well for me - Despite being rather crap at the Jelly King run, I can and do solo in T2 in relative (albeit very, very slow) comfort.
Moving to armor with at least *some* Elemental defense was, for me, the first big shift; if you haven't made that jump already, I recommend it strongly.
