I saw this mentioned in Suggestions, so I'm putting it up as a separate idea (leaving a ghost copy in General so people can see it). Credit goes to Sir-Snarbolax.
What if we add bombs that don't explode in a radius, but a cone instead? I imagine this is within the limits of the game engine, as the Dark Briar Barrage already tracks the bomb orientation (the phantom Snarby that pops up faces in the direction your knight was facing when the bomb was deposited). This claymore-style bomb might even be made in true claymore style, being detonated by an enemy coming in range (although the feasibility on this is questionable, and of course attempting to place a second claymore would detonate the first). Another idea is versions that behave like a Gremlin Scorcher's fire wave attack, in various status flavors.
It's interesting, mainly in the potential for kiting and/or repelling. Could be nice for corridors or around corners with big scary Lumbers or Gremlin mobs coming down the way. However, I don't think I'd ever use one of these weapons in a jam-packed arena!
