I searched for a thread but didn't see one.
Check this pic out. I got it in an email. In the same email they announced the solstice promo.
If true... more undead?
Discuss, please.
Content Update: Legion of Almire
Figured, but I thought they'd at least announce something on the main page. Or did I miss something?
Yep, you missed what was going on in the Test Server section of the forum.
Yeah, they were testing it along with the party finder on the preview server last weekend.
I like how shambling hordes is emphasized. A large group of slow walking enemies is sure to draw in the crowds!
A large group of slow walking enemies is sure to draw in the crowds!
Oh, definitely. When you try the mission for the first time, just stand around when they appear. I hear the results are quite... volatile.
I was on the testing server too. Which is also why I find the description misleading hehe
I was hoping they'd release it today instead of a promo -_- .
It's way too soon for them to add it. Preview server stuff (well, at least the significant bits) usually gets released at least a full 1-2 weeks acted the test. So look out for it next Wednesday or so.
The accessories looked nice, but weren't interesting per-se and weren't really intuitive. In fact they look... at standards in my view. I probably could have thought of this when Halos were implemented, since they obviously use the same model design, and same with the badge thing or whatever it was. I don't pay attention, this was horrible news to me.
A CE promo when CE went up? Ok, but WHERE'S THE CONTENT. We're trying to take AWAY from the point of the economy, and back into HAVING FUN in NEW WAYS I sure hope.
Not only did OOO lower my expectations with a Promo instead of good content announcements, they kept it there with the announcement of this. Its a Necropolis. OH HOW MANY OF THOSE HAVE WE NOT SEEN HURR DURR. Its Almire. What in all of Cradle are you thinking OOO?!?!?! I know you want to move the story along some more but that just seems not well thought. We've wanted to get away from FSC and stop seeing the same darn enemies in a row, but now you just give us content with MORE undead monsters? As in Zombies? As in this has been going on for 10 months of grinding FSC to survive in the economy?!
"Legion of Almire"
"Legion"
"Legion"
"L E G I O N"
ಠ_ಠ
No. Just no. Why? That phrase is already associated with a mission that was original and paved the way for something new. Legion makes me think of an army weaker than Jelly Cubes.
I don't even want cut-scenes anymore. I don't even want new mission. I don't even want to do another Shadow Lair.
If they can't even create hype for your content to get players interested, then how are they going to have players know if its good or not? How!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I don't even why the same stuff?
Don't even give me that "Oh well it might turn out to be amazing" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!1 There IS no amazing factor in it if it doesn't present itself as amazing! Plain as day, if the new things being developed are not even good enough to advertise and get me,as a player, intrigued, then I can't have an optimistic feel for it! I can't say that it may be amazing, intuitive, well developed; I can't say anything good about it, unless it sounds interesting, and I'm hyped to feel that way! I STRONGLY dislike how they are going about game development. As much as I want to believe that this content will be as good as the Shadow Lairs and as user friendly as the Mission system... I just can't!!! It doesn't LOOK awe inspiring! It doesn't SOUND intuitive or new! It doesn't captivate me as a loyal fan of their work!
OOO tried to present it well, but I cannot look at it optimistically in ANY point of view! I'm sorry but I no longer think they have enough creativity to meet the needs of the long time loyal players anymore. I'm done... I'm just fed up with this.
EDIT: I was not in the testing server, but I still stand beside what I've said. I don't want to be in the testing server.
/endrant
I was thinking the same thing. Legion of Almire = FSC+?
Please no.
@Xylka-Mkii
You want overhyped content that will fall below your expectations? That's a new perspective.
OOO almost always waits an extra week between putting the testing server up and releasing the content from the testing server. It's been this way for a while. I found the mission to be quite fun. I'm also curious if they're going to take some of our suggestions and make tweaks to some of the lesser parts of it, as this is the first time I took part in the testing server.
Probably doesn't matter tho. You're expecting an update that will create endless hours of entertainment while revolutionizing the game economy to make every single player happy. I don't believe that update will ever come.
Lol, don't expect it to be tweaked.
Prepare for FSC 2.0!!!
With about half of the crown payout of course.
I agree with Xylka, instead Let's progress through the dang story line of Cradle and the Spiral Order and the Swarm and Tinkinface.
We have only gotten Seerus down. We have a huge number of Crimson Order members left.
WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO PROCRASTINATE.
Regardless, I have just been searching for something that is no longer hello kitty island adventures.
If the devs can bring me just that with this Danger Mission, I am satisfied. FOR THE TIME BEING. nnnyyyyYYYAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
I saw one of the new enemies and I have to say two things about it's design.
I also encourage OOO to stop using "!" in their announcements so much. It doesn't read as something amazing, it reads as something forced.
Just wondering, were you in the test server? o_o
No but I read some of people's feedback
why, is it easy? :O
Funny. I thought you wanted the game to be harder and was looking forward to Danger Missions. Guess not. The-Contradictingcake.
I'm looking forward to the mission. Let's see how hard it actually is.

BETTER NOT HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY IT LIKE EXPANSION!!!!!!!
(>¬<)
vv
Shadow Lair Difficulty or screw it. And by that I mean when I solo area's, I can 2 shot practically every monster using my loadout. I don't want that.
@Noomad
Its not that I want it to be overhyped and fail, exactly. Its just that if it causes no excitement AT ALL in the player, then what's going to make me go play it.
And this reminds me. I soloed the Gauntlet today, and I find it strange that it doesn't pay out as much as FSC.
Why? Because its harder than FSC, requires some strategic thinking on what to gear up with for the entire mission, and swarms you with nearly every kind of enemy and tactic in the game, causing you to switch tactic 3 times in the last floor.
It kept me entertained, felt like the game was fun for that moment, but didn't pay out evenly? If its fun and challenging, then the player should expect good rewards when completing it. FSC isn't fun, and pays out the best. Does anyone else see how broken that is? You have to grind the level that gets boring after the 10th time, in order to thrive in the game, yet if you play any other fun levels, you will most likely lose profit. So we have to pay to have access to better content? If so then this is no different than any other "F2P" game. It used to be fun early on, but once you finish, you finish.
The worst part is, as much rage and controversy in the community as there is, its still better than any other game I've played.
"BETTER NOT HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY IT LIKE EXPANSION!!!!!!!"
I recall them saying its accessible to all players without paying, but I swear if you need CE to access the levels like a SL key, I will flip my table and smash my mouse on camera for all of you to see.
If you want to see a nice MMO forum community guys. Eden Eternal has one. Anyway I highly doubt you will have to pay for it.
Also you don't have to grind FSC, you can choose to. They don't force you to. And also I find FSC fun. Why? Because I don't grind it 24/7 because I don't need/want to rush and get the best gear.
Another thing, you can't exactly be general with F2P games either. I have played my fair share and yes you do have ones which do require you to pay to get anywhere, but not all. C'mon generalising-gem let's not do that. I will say though if you did have to pay to access the mission, I too would have to consider flipping something.

"Funny. I thought you wanted the game to be harder and was looking forward to Danger Missions. Guess not. The-Contradictingcake."
When the heck did I say I wanted it to be easy?
I said: "Regardless, I have just been searching for something that is no longer hello kitty island adventures.
If the devs can bring me just that with this Danger Mission, I am satisfied."
Then Spectrumized said "Just wondering, were you in the test server? o_o"
Then that is why I asked "Is it easy?" with the ":O" worry face, as if saying, "Oh no, are you telling me it was easy in the test server??"
[editted out]
Sorry, I don't want to get another warning. However, your signature stands as not creative or funny, Mr. Mighty Cheese.
I wouldn't say the danger mission is hard.... I would say it's harder than FSC but easier than a shadow lair.
There is just a lot of stuff flying around really. It's like a glorified graveyard, without the phantoms. I think they should have put the phantoms in along with everything else. I think that would up the harder scale and give it that extra edge.
As for as the pay out goes, they said the pay out that was in the test server will not be the actual pay out.
No, it won't be an pay to play mission or anything that requires keys. It is a MISSION. It will be something that is available to everyone at elevator cost. I've seen this said around the forums several times so I do hope they stick to that. But that is my overall impression of it.
I think the average sk player will find the danger missions satisfyingly difficult. The above average players to almost "elite" status may not find them exciting and dangerous. They're going to complain about them. So I'm going to take what some of you say with a grain of salt. Do I wish they were something else besides zombies? Yes. But please remember they did say this was just ONE of the danger missions we were testing, which mean there will be more missions in the future (however long that may be). Overall, I think this particular danger mission will go over well with most of the community. The already end game players that have solo'd everything probably won't find it as exciting or interesting.
Just my view on it.
Operation Crimson Hammer is also a mission, and it's the only truly pay-to-play content in Spiral Knights. Just thought I'd point that out.
From what I've gathered though, Danger Missions will be content that is openly available for free. I actually thought that was what most people felt as well, but I guess some people just want to be toxic.
I, for one, am looking forward to Danger Missions. I personally don't care so much for the difficulty factor as I do for the fact that they represent a content addition of some kind. I wasn't in the test server, so I can't say for sure, but I think I'll have fun with them because they're something a little fresher.
No Danger Missions will ever be dangerous without T3 lumbers, rocket puppies, mecha knights, trojans, greavers and a handful of gremlin menders, stacked all together at once in one single arena-sized room.
Make it happen OOO.
The key to a difficult Danger Room is not the quantity of enemies, but rather the amount of space you are given. Look at the Charred Court in FSC. The room in the bottom right spawns a Trojan and several zombies, but the room is still pretty easy because you are given a good amount of space to fight them in. However, go one room to the left, and the fight with a Trojan in the equivalent of a closet is FAR harder.
That's why I said arena-sized room. With so many monsters you'll have close to no space avoiding the rockets, furniture, wood, swords and surprisingly sharp wings being thrown at you.
"Operation Crimson Hammer is also a mission, and it's the only truly pay-to-play content in Spiral Knights. Just thought I'd point that out."
Operation crimson hammer is an expansion pack. Which from the beginning we knew we would have to pay extra for that particular content. The method in which payment would be accepted was changed, but we knew there would be extra payment for this content nonetheless.
Danger missions have been advertised as regular missions. They have been CONFIRMED from multiple three ring officials that danger missions will NOT cost extra ce besides the normal elevator costs.
Now, lets get off this subject. It WON'T cost extra. The ONLY payment will be elevator costs.
Hope difficulty isn't designated by the amount of bullets flying at your face but by how much you have to think to win.
Sorry Rawrcake but if you actually read my words you will realise I never said you wanted the game to be easier. Don't twist my words with your silly mindset. If you REALLY want to know what I meant. Then I meant that I thought you were looking forward to Danger Missions and the game being harder. Which from the tone of your post, made me believe you were not. Which is why I said you were contradicting yourself. Did I hit a nerve or something? I don't believe that is a bad observation, or that you should be offended by it.
Oh and the 'EDIT' thing was a nice touch. I doubt that you're the kind of person to restrain yourself. There are many more ways to tell me what you 'edited' out, I would really enjoy knowing what you said.
And I really do hope it does make me think too. Would be a nice change :)
~The Mighty Cheese Knight; WeeGee
Alrighty then! I've just returned from the testing server.
First time I did the tier 3 mission solo, I hit my 3rd 1000 CE energy rev.
Second time, I almost had to do a 640 CE energy rev.
I talked to someone who was complaining that it was easy, and found out that they could solo FSC without deaths (including Vanaduke himself), and go through most of their Shadow Lair runs without dying.
The main thing that screwed me over was the difficulty curve. It's like... exponential. It starts as a normal Graveyard with a few random Howitzers thrown in, something I could practically do while asleep. It ends with Slag Guards, surrounded by Zombies that they're constantly reviving, in a cramped room, with spawners and spike hazards.
"Funny. I thought you wanted the game to be harder and was looking forward to Danger Missions. Guess not. The-Contradictingcake."
-.-
"I thought you wanted the game to be harder"
-.-
Maybe you could have said "I thought you were looking forward to Danger Missions. Guess not."
Not to mention I never at all hinted before you posted that that I was not looking forward to them.
I said, "Regardless, I have just been searching for something that is no longer hello kitty island adventures.
If the devs can bring me just that with this Danger Mission, I am satisfied." in order to clear up that I am satisfied specifically with the Danger Mission.
And then
"I don't believe that is a bad observation"
Yeah, it was a pretty redundant observation, and I don't see at all why anyone else would even post something like that. The tone of your response, saying I am "The-Contradictingcake" Doesn't sound at all like you would be hostile while stating such a worthless observation.
"Oh and the 'EDIT' thing was a nice touch."
It wasn't for you, sweetie. I am fairly sure there aren't third warnings on the forums. The edit button is for my benefit, and if you've seen me post before, I have edited things out to keep myself from getting this third warning.
~The Mighty Cheesecake of Dull Uncreativeness, The-"Contradicting"cake.
So now we are down to petty mocking I see. After the last little signature of yours I will not even respond to the rest of your post.
Okay, okay I can't help myself. Being satisfied with something is a lot different than looking forward to something cake-y. I don't know whether it's me being dull or you. Either way I doubt you'd say it's you so yay! I guess I'm the dull one. Like I said (being redundant again) being satisfied is way different than actually looking forward to something.
Also I wasn't hostile if that is what you are implying. It was a passing comment, which obviously was meant to get you to explain yourself further. I got what I wanted ^-^ Just remember, it's people like you who have drove me to being like you. Not that I would try to shift any sort of blame to anyone else. Now that would be dull.
Oh and correct I have seen you put EDIT at the end of your posts. I still want to see what you put though. Doesn't change anything at all. I would also like to request not to call me... That disgusting name. I am Weegee not sweetie. And yes I said that just to make it rhyme. Sue me.
Oh and I was just about to post this but the whole, 'I don't see why anyone else would even post something like that.' Thing is rather silly. I'm not anyone else. I'm me. Meaning that your comment makes no sense, that's like saying just because everyone wouldn't say 'I like cake', I'd go right ahead and not say it too. On another note Cheesecake is horrid. Now I know why.
~The Mighty Cheese Knight; WeeGee
The danger mission is fine difficulty wise. It is harder than the gauntlet, and the update this weekend made it about as hard as rabid snarby, though my friend said he found it harder.
Keep in mind we are not "Uber 1337 players", but I find that anyone who hasn't soloed shadow lairs will be satisfied.
@Gingermace
Oh, well that's somewhat disappointing since I was planing on doing just that since May... -.-
Finally, something to do besides grinding fsc all day:)
I'm also excited that this mission will not cost any extra:)
Here is aquote from of the feedback threads:
"The final room was on par of the last room of the first UFSC floor." Can't remember who's it was. That good enough for you?
Yeah it's true. But not today!
