Avenger is more useful in Firestorm Citadel, followed by Grand Flourish. Silent Nightblade isn't very useful against the huge number of undead there.

but Nightblade/Acheron is useful elsewhere

Let's emphasize that Traevelliath is talking only about FSC. In the rest of Tier 3, Nightblade/Acheron is a great sword.

In FSC, an elemental sword such as (Divine) Avenger is certainly the most useful.

In the rest of the Clockworks, I'd say that a piercing sword such as Grand/Final Flourish is really, really useful. Many of us feel that they are the most overpowered weapons in the game. They're obviously quite good against beasts and fiends, and fine against undead. What's less obvious is that against gremlins they're almost as good as shadow swords, because they're fast, wide, and long.

fiends will disintegrate

Fiends will disintegrate before your terrible onslaught. Excelsior!

(Later, you will also want to get an elemental sword.)

Processing Thoughts of You Always

...am I the only one who had dirty thoughts when I read Bopp's description of the Grand Flourish

Yeah, anyway, toothpicks are epic. Divine Avenger is also epic due to its damage and knockback, but its 4* version isn't quite so good - its charge attack is a lot smaller on its predecessor, and it benefits greatly from being upgraded.
Get the toothpick first.
