So I started a loadout with 3 guns and a VV to be more of a support for the team since I'm not that good a gunning. I just want to know if people on the same team as a VV bomber find it helpful? Is it worth keeping in the loadout as a support gunner?
VV in LD
Most bombers either go Mercurial Demo Suit with Recon, or Mad Bomber/Volcanic Demo with Guardian.
Either way, I believe the Jempire Bomber in GvG constantly throws around VV and Stagger. Quite effective, if you're coordinated. Poison almost halves people's damage, and most underestimate this, charging right in. They also (I think) take additional damage, so you'll be able to dish out the hurt a lot more.
The problem with VV is that it only really shines when you have organization. You need someone to stick with you and deal damage while you drop bombs. Jempire does it effectively because they are a very organized LD team. However, your average game is filled with impatient Strikers. Most of them will just abandon you after you cap a point, or even abandon you WHILE you're capping a point to get more damage. Most people will also no listen, so even asking for someone to stay with you probably wont do much.
Albeit I, as a Recon, tend to follow good Guardians around, so you may pick up random Recons if you ask for a buddy.
Thanks for the responses. Most of my time in LD has been as a bomber so I realize that there are better mist bombs to be used. The reason I ask about VV is because you don't see it much in LD. I am using it as a recon and have max ctr with the recon buff. I mostly place it at first thing on a cap when I walk in there if enemies are present and the team is distracting them or I place it on a cap when I have gotten it to go neutral because you know someone is bound to show up. Poison does increase damage dealt to the poisoned target and this is partially why I use it, I want to increase my damage as well as my teams damage to make us more effective. More input is always welcome so if you see me in LD using VV let me know if it is helping you please. Asked a team earlier today and got no response but then again most of them were speaking Spanish.
I have a question. How long exactly does poison last in relation to a death mark? I enjoy shard bombing in T2 but T2 shards are kinda weak, and the blast bomb radius isn't really large enough to buy you a decent amount of time. So if I can get out a couple more shards while taking reduced damage, I might actually be able to do something against those really god players.
It depends on what class you play: strikers have a gigundous penalty to bomb charge time, which would cause you to be exposed and vulnerable for a long time while charging the bomb. You'd need at least a very good UV to balance out the penalty.
It also depends on your teammates: a defense penalty really only matters if there's someone to hit the victim before poison wears off.
On a map with a lot of recons, haze bombs ARE very useful because they cause recons to become visible. But you'd probably want a different bomb from the haze series to maximize your effectiveness. Movement penalties are more valuable, because your target is prevented from escaping to recover until the effect wears off. Skolver armor users might be immune to freeze, so most people go with shock. Some people have learned to buy armors with shock UVs, so certain particularly dedicated lockdown bombers will make a stun bomb.
