Of all the five haze bombs, I felt that the AoA's effect was the weakest in Lockdown. Even when I still sported a Mad Bomber set and accidentally walked though an AoA, the effect of fire was just a minor annoyance. But maybe that was just because I was a bomber.

Recently in one of my Lockdown matches though, there was a AoA bomber on my team. Didn't really see him in action much, and I just played as normal. However, I was very surprised when someone on the other team was complaining about the AoA bomber. Someone else responded with something like: "Chill dude, it's just an AoA". Which he responded with "Fire interrupts attacks, you didn't know that?" That line. Confuses me so much. o____o To me, the fire ticks seem way too weak to interrupt anything...

Can anyone give their personal experience with being afflicted with AoA, or even give me an explanation on how the fire interrupts attacks?

Status damage doesn't benefit

Status damage doesn't benefit from damage boosts, whether gun, sword, or bomb. That may be why you feel lacking in damage.

If fire does, then it really should be a more common haze bomb to use. Not many people go with fire uv's unless built in like vog or magic lines. Honestly though, I havn't noticed fire interrupting attacks. All I can recall about fire in lockdown is don't shield while on fire as a guardian, because the ticks will stagger you.

Oh, when i said the fire was a minor annoyance, I meant when it damaged me, even though I had double negative fire resist as a Mad Bomber. Probably did two and a half bars each tick, which really isn't..... much.

But I haven't seen fire have any profound effects on interrupting attacks either. Your logic is the same when being a recon, don't shield while on fire, it breaks the cloak. However, maybe if fire had a greater effect on striker shields than it does now (like, perhaps, melting the striker boost faster when used while on fire), it might just be a way to indirectly buff guardians and recons and balance out the classes that much better...

I don't personally own an AoA, but I can see the destroying effect that it has in PvE is lost in PvP, as it requires a lot of time to burn your targets to ashes. But in a sixteenth of that that time, you could be poked to death by a Skolver Striker. :I Maybe fire should be buffed in general for PvP....

I definitely like your idea

I definitely like your idea of the fire ruining striker boost, why should it destroy a recon cloak and make a shielded guardian walk slow in it with his shield up and yet do nothing to the most OP class in LD. Personally I think any inflicted status should have an effect on all of the LD class shields.

It's annoying for Recons.

Catch a Recon on fire, and they CANNOT cloak until it wears off because the ticks of fire damage break the Recon's cloak.

A patch made it such that

A patch made it such that getting hit while charging a weapon no longer resets the charge back to zero, BUT, it still causes a slight reduction in the charge immediately after the actual hit itself, so you won't be able to release a charge attack immediately after getting hit. This applies to the ticks of fire damage from AoA too. I've had this happen to me multiple times in FSC (unsure if it's the same in LD, but seeing as how virtually everything is still the same there, chances are, this will be the same in LD too) where I get set on fire while charging a RSS, then as I release the attack button just as the fire damage ticked, I end up doing the 'ready bomb' animation instead (holding the bomb up, then down again), resulting in me getting smacked across my face by a zombie.

Fire used to interrupt much

Fire used to interrupt much more, as Griseolar said. Perhaps the person complaining hasn't actually been paying attention for the past couple of months. So, at most, it slows down charge, and if you are used to letting go of charge at a precise moment, yes, it can screw you up. But it doesn't really interrupt anymore, since once the charge is full, fire ticks do not cancel or reduce it. Also I think the fire from AoA is minor, whereas getting lit up by something like FoV tends to hurt me more.
