Ok so after the new update, I have been seeing some very, uh how you say, ANNOYING things going on with buyers and sellers. So I have comprised a list of suggestions.

1. Do NOT SPAM
2. Keep sales pitches short below 3+ lines (I would honestly say 2 lines is a good amount but there are some who need 3)
3. Specify Crowns or CE when doing pitches
4. Be inventive with your sales pitches
5. /2 IS to be used for ALL buying and selling
6. Avoid the use of effed up ASCII and symbols.

Not following the general guidelines above=instant block from me and probably many others.

We are here to have fun, not be annoying. You can't make sales if you are annoying and get blocked.

I am also VERY in favor of OOO making it so you CAN'T go past like 2-3 lines of sales text.

i agree

I agree with most of that.
1. So annoying, everyone one heard you the 1st 300 times, you WTB 4 star items at 3 star prices, now go away.
2. Definitely!! Actually, i don't think they need more than 2 lines. If you have that much stuff to sale, tell me about half of it now, and half of it in 30 seconds.
3. I like to leave my prices open-ended to encourage negotiating. I don't want to price people out because i say WTS for an amount higher than i'll "settle" for.
4. Won't get you blocked if your not. But it is definitely nice for someone to have fun with the post.
5. I don't have much problem with that, but i may be confused as to exactly what you mean.
6. I think they this should be a ban-able offense from the tradechat--just for like an hour or 15 minutes or something.

and...
I know this is mean-spirited, but if someone does numbers 1, 2, and 6 in combination, then i'll whisper them and tell them i'll buy/sell whatever they are three line-spamming with special characters. Then i will say where are you? answer: arc haven 6. Meet me at token vendor in haven 3. Of course i don't show up. But if they wanna waste my time with being annoying in the trade chat then i'll waste theirs back :D

To expand on 3. I meant if

To expand on

3. I meant if you specify a price in your sales pitch you should also specify crowns or Ce, however yes most don't specify at all to discourage someone underselling them to steal their customers.

4. If I have to look at horridly designed sales pitches that annoy my eyes, I block you, pure and simple.

5. Certain individuals were using /1 to trade and not /2.

6.Like I swear there have been Japanese chars in some of them..

I hope that puts things more into perspective.

I normally like inventive

I normally like inventive sales pitches, but in the present trade cat climate, there's just not enough time to read them before the next broadcast. This goes for witty broadcasts (which are fun), as well as exhaustive lists of everything you could ever possibly craft or sell. Good in theory, but not workable in practice.

I'd offer these suggestions, then, aimed at getting a message across in five seconds of screen time or less:

a. Add the letters "WTS" (woodchucks totally surf), "WTB" (Winnebago toffee bongo), or "CRAFT" to the start of your message. They're hokey, but they help your target audience spot you fast.
b. Keep messages to a single line if possible; we may not have time to read more. And don't add empty characters to "pad" your post to three lines; that's annoying.
c. Ideally, we'd see fewer people advertising 2* materials, which EVERYONE has. Focus on your very best stuff, then say "and many others"; trust that people who need blue shards will ask (and receive dozens of tells). And yes, I realize that this last suggestion is unrealistic.

Truth be told, I'm surprised at just how many broadcasts there are, even with the 30 second rule. De-spamming the chat helps, but even so... wow.

Heh

I don't even use trade chat, I just pull a Mexican salesman move (not derogatory, they do it) and run up to random people in the bazaar and ambush them with "Hi there, do you need materials or crafting services!?" I actually do quite well!

wasd555: If you're not limiting your trading to terse, polite messages in the trade channel, don't be surprised when someone reports you for being a tool.

I never understood why people

I never understood why people would advertise that they have materials to sell. Unless you've happened upon something that is incredibly, incredibly rare to acquire, just wait for somebody to actually ask for it...

And I couldn't agree more strongly about the OP's #6. I keep seeing people insert some kind of special character that creates a large opaque white solid box that takes up a lot more room than any other text character, and they'll FILL their message to the maximum length with it and just insert a few words of actual text sparsely through sections of the giant white block. THAT, I add people to my ignore list for.

I advertise my materials

I advertise my materials because I sell them at really low prices. People who ask for materials usually don't reply because they are barraged by tells and don't have time to sort through it all.

You don't need to list out

You don't need to list out every single mat you you have. Dropping the names of 4-5 BIG ones that you KNOW people want, is more then enough to get people asking you.
