I feel this would be a good idea, such as it would do good in places like Vanaduke and such, I just thought of this idea, so it most likely has stuff wrong with it. Please respond!
A bomb that deals Curse?
Almost every single enemy in FSC is immune to curse, but that is the least worrying part of your post.
More specifically, most Shadow-based monsters in the Undead or Fiend families (in FSC that would be Trojans and Slag Walkers) are immune to curse. Silkwings are the only exception I can remember.
A Curse Haze Bomb would be horrendously, deliciously overpowered. Due to Curse's potency it's is restricted to vials and the double-edged Faust family.
More Curse weaponry in the future would be interesting though.
All Fiends can be cursed, except for I think Trojans. But, OP, go move this to Suggestions and let Luguiru and Co. have at it.
Substitute 'Royal Jelly Palace' for 'Firestorm Citadel', and you'd be right.
It would also be terrifyingly overpowered.
While I support the idea of the Grim (a Shadow Magnus-line gun with a Cursing ability that got suggested a while back, and promptly died), mass-cursing monsters is not a good idea. Everything non-shadow and non-Lumber would die redonkulously fast.
Faust has self-curse, and its cursing ability is not 100% of the time. The suggested Grim would be exactly the same. Vials are 1-time use only. There's a reason for this.
Move to suggestion forum please.
Bomb with curse. Can you imagine if everybody was curse including you? If you can.. then you will find the answer.
This bomb would be overly OP in LD, the Gran faust and Volcanic tempests are enough already, imagine Curse bombs in a pro-lockdown bomber's hands....... it'll be nightmarish, and the next thing you know everyone's raging bout it like how they rage about the elemental brandishes and the trollaris.
If the curse bomb had the same radius as (say) Shivermist Buster, then it would be overpowered.
If the curse bomb had radius 0, it would be underpowered.
Somewhere between these two radii is a radius at which the bomb is balanced. So the game designers could make a reasonable curse bomb, if they were willing to fine-tune the radius like this.
It'd be funny if it was an invisible mist... Now I have serious plans for if this happens. That's a small if.
Everyone else got to it before me. Curse is OP.
Seriously, though. There's a reason why curse is not widely used in weapons or levels, because it's hugely OP. Which status theme did they add to UFSC? Curse, to make it as close to impossible as possible, because Curse is OP. Why are Curse vial drops low, and, for example, Poison vial drops high? Curse is OP, but poison is mostly useless. Why are there no weapons which reliably deal Curse, or which do even unreliable curse with no drawbacks? Curse is OP.
OOO isn't going to put it in because it would be horrendously unbalanced. It'd be impossible to balance. Small radius makes people complain that it's too underpowered to ever use. Make it larger, and people claim it's hugely OP. Make the status weaker, and people complain it's hardly worth using. Make it stronger, and people claim it's hugely OP. Because it is.
I rest my case.
TL;DR: Read the article.
TL;DR the TL;DR: Curse is OP.
Poison isn't useless and it has the same drop rate as the other vials.
Any weapon that deals consistent curse over a large area would be insanely OP. To change this, you would have to significantly lower the duration and the damage done by the curse, along with the area of the [bomb]. This would lead to the bomb almost certainly being overshadowed by the Ash of Agni in PVE and definitely being overshadowed by it in LD.
Also, move this to the suggestions forum and then immediately graveyard it. This has been suggested more times than "remove energy" and "free elevators" combined.
I feel like we've had this conversation before... Ah yes, we have. Several times. People always go "OP!!!" and then it ends with the pro-curse people feeling sad.
Low curse would be hard to balance, but would still be doable. The curse would have to wear off almost as soon as the mist dissipates, and not deal that much damage- keep in mind that you would still need to egg them into attacking, and that in order for the curse to work they'd have to be in the mist, pretty much.
Seriously, it can't be that the very nature of Curse--which is just "take damage when you attack with a Cursed weapons"--is such that it's unbalanceable. There is nothing inherently OP about such a mechanic. Generalising from the current strength of Curse, as currently available, is a mistake.
Wrong forum, you are suggesting something.
I will let the other folks fill you in on why a curse bomb in fsc is ridiculous.
