An updated downloading method to the updater

After experiencing a 5 hour download for the danger missions update, the thought hit me. Why can't the update be broken into pieces so that, if a reload of the page is necessary, the whole process doesn't have to start from scratch.
Think of it this way,
this is the current update style:
|-------------whole update-------------|
The updater thinks that it's all or nothing. It fails and decides that it has to start over.
My idea for the update:
|--part 1--||----part 2----||-part 3-| ... |---part 30---|
The update fails, finds that it completed part 3, and restarts at part 4. Less time wasted having to redownload what's already been successful.

If this is the method already used, could you have it show something like x of y parts (ie. 3/30) completed?

Yes, yes, yes. Sounds very good indeed. However, this could get a little complicated, so maybe to keep it simple, how about if the parts are in zip files, and then they are all just unzipped when needed? That way, you don't need to change to structure of the game too badly, if at all.
