Because not all of us are rolling in dough, but we all don't want to look like a bucket of feces.
My Plea to OOO: Make costumes affordable!
> Forgetting the past two events OOO held which gave us a Spookat mask, a Phantom mask, a Frankenzom mask and a Prismatic cake helm which were all obtained for free, provided you had the time to grind the Clockworks for the tokens to get them.
And you don't have to be rolling in cash to spruce up costume armours a bit. Bare minimum, you need to be able to do Royal Jelly or the Roarmulus Twins (Firestorm Citadel recommended) as well as sell minerals, materials and buy 5* trinkets using tokens then selling them off to an NPC and buying Boss rewards and selling those off. Doing all this you can get quite a bit of cash.
Cosmetics are stupidly expensive. Why pay 10 times the cost for something that doesn't even affect gameplay?
They fill the important role of being things people want to spend money on, but things people don't need to progress; it lets the spenders feel good and look cool while not functionally impeding non-spenders.
But if you're concerned that your fashions aren't up to snuff, here are some lovely costumes that can be made with 3* equipment or less.
• Skelly Mask and Fused Demo Suit
• Demo Helm and Wolver Coat
• Angelic Helm and Drake Scale Mail
• Plate Helm and Brute Jelly Mail
• Emberbreak Helm and Jelly Mail
• Jelly Helm variant and Demo Suit variant
• Bombhead variant + appropriately colored armor
Arquebus, nope. It's Skelly Suit with Fused Demo Helm, trust me ;)
I love my skully hat on my clunky suit... it works pretty well with the 4* versions of the respective sets too.
"Why pay 10 times the cost for something that doesn't even affect gameplay?"
Well I see it as actually protecting the idiots from buying something that they didn't want, or "accidentally" putting the item on the wrong piece of armor, then rage about it on the forums because they couldn't take 2 seconds to know what button to correctly push.
Think about it, if prismatic items were 20k buyout in the featured auctions, how many people would buy them, making everyone look less unique as EVERYONE can have the same stuff thats pretty, and match it with the wrong gear.
Anyway it IS and optional feature, so its your CHOICE to buy CE, and your choice to grind to upgrade, or accessorize first.
Costumes are more like expensive cars for the rich to blow their money on them. You might not even need something that goes more than 160 mph, so why even bother? You wanna look flashy, you gotta pay more. And Batabii is right. It doesn't affect performance, just looks. So it's not a crucial part in your gameplay if you're only interested in practicality
Arquebus ,
That was a very well put argument! Its just what I came here to say, but you beat me to it. Thanks for being awesome.
You don't believe me? Eh?

You fools, when will you wake up and realize that everything you suggest, or plead, just goes on deaf ears?
Cosmetics are one of the few sinks that keep the economy going.
