i just upgraded my sealed sword to an avenger, since i only had a silent nightblade earlier, and im gonna do a fiend mission soon, and im wondering if the avenger works well with those pesky fiends. also please feel free to give me some tips.
do heavy swords and fiends mix?
I do not have experience with heavy swords on T3, but as far as I can tell they work decently (at least better then Nightblade). Pushback is very helpfull, and since fiends usually are soft bodied the first swing is able to interrupt attacks. But you probably should get a piercing sword, FF and BTB are very usefull in any stratum which is not jelly or construct.
I made a triglav with fiend med and beast med on it. It doesn't work very well against fiends, as it is too slow and they just whip out their office things and fling them at you. It works OK against butterflies, although thats because it is normal and can deal damage to the construct or slimes as well as the actual fiends themselves.
o yeah, i forgot to say that the mission also has kats, wich are weak to elemntal, so the avenger has some benefits s well
Long ago I spent several months using only Divine Avenger and Gran Faust. So I used DA against fiends. When I finally got a piercing sword, it was a revelation.
The point of this short, dull tale is that DA can kill fiends, but piercing swords are much, much better at it. Just use the first swing, intermixed with shielding.
Fiends are weak to piercing, not elemental, so it's already not optimal. Speed is also preferable since they are small and fast.
Not immpossible but very hard if it's your first time.
