Could any experienced player please give some advice on this loadout?

Primary weapons: Combuster, Acheron, Final Flourish
Sidearms: Valiance, Electron Vortex/Shivermist Buster (Please comment on which one I should choose, I like shock better than freeze but I'm not so sure if Electron Vortex is a better support bomb than Shivermist Buster.)
Armor: Vog Cub Coat, Snarbolax Coat (after I get everything else)
Helmet: Vog Cub Cap, Snarbolax Cap (after I get everything else)
Shield: Barbarous Thorn Shield

As you can probably guess already I mainly use swords, but I do like to use guns/bombs as sidearms ocassionally. Please feel free to add any other suggestions. Any advice is greatly appreciated. :)

My two crowns

Consider exchanging the Valiance with the Polaris, but only do so if you have difficulty against turrets.
As for the bombs, both are useful as support, and really it boils down to whether or not you will be doing a lot of FSC. If yes, the pick Shiver, if not, then the Vortex.

I agree with changing

I agree with changing Valliance for an elemental gun (my current favorite is Argent Peacemaker because of the mobility, 6 bullets per clip and not detrimental to the team in any way).

For Electron Vortex vs Shiver, it's not really about FSC, since EV is better for undeads, it's about Vanaduke. You want Shiver for Vanaduke, EV for everything else (unless you play with beginners, if you do so, Shiver may be more useful).

The rest is ok, but your first Shadow Lair with full Vog is going to hurt. You may want to consider a Skolver part somewhere, and a Crest of Almire to have a shadow shield.

agree

I agree with the others. Your swords are perfect. Polaris is really specialized, in that you can only use it solo or against turrets, without disrupting your party. I vote for Argent, Nova, or Storm Driver. Shivermist Buster can also disrupt your party, by hindering kiting, knockback, and shield-bumping. I use it only against Vanaduke, sometimes in FSC depth 27, against devilites, against the ninjas in OCH, and sometimes in Legion of Almire. Electron Vortex is great fun. I strongly encourage you to get at least one piece of Skolver (see here). Consider getting some sword trinkets, too.

If you roll non-solo,

If you roll non-solo, definitely up the priority on Electron Vortex. It is amazing when you have party members who can take advantage of all the mobs being clumped.

trinket

get sword ctr trinket if you don't have uv on those swords. Max ctr brandish is fun.

Also probably get other shields. I usually get Crest of Almire (shadow), Grey Owlite Shield (element) and swiftstrike buckler (if I don't need to shield at all) beside barbarous thorn shield. Skolver is not that bad either (I personally tend to choose skolver set instead of vog cub set), I remember there are some areas that you need certain damage bonus to make monsters cancel their attack charge, not really know the exact details.

edit: noticed that I copied some comments above, meh, I don't care.

...

EV is a great bomb, but more times than not, when I bring one most of my party doesn't know how to work with it. If you're just getting 5* gear, I would give EV a low priority.

I hate shiver, but you're going to want that or a blitz if you're going to be running FSC.

Valiance is amazing for PVP, but it's an odd gun for a swordy to use otherwise.

Thanks guys!

Thank you to all those who commented. I've now decided to drop the guns for a while and use Electron Vortex instead of Shivermist Buster as my sidearm. I've also decided to stay put with the Vog Cub Set because the BTS is kind of like a piece of Skolver, so it'll compensate for that. Thanks again to all the people who commented. Your advice really helped me. :)
