Hai Everybody!!!

First post on the forum and I was wondering, what gun should I get if I plan to get the Divine Avenger and Archeon? I am very much a swordsman who has never used a bomb in his life =P. I am not quite at the 5 star level yet (I'm at 3) but before I move on I want to know what gun path I should take? I am planning on getting the Vog Armor set as well.

1. What gun(s) type should I get (Elemental,Shadow,Normal,Piercing)
2. What gun(s) in your opinion really fits my needs?
3. Why?

I thank everyone in advance and I also want to murder everyone who trolls on the thread (=P). Hope you have a good day and all of you trolls...watch your backs. =D

don't worry; no one ever trolls these forums

You might want to check out my sword guide. In my opinion, the best plan for mixed guns and swords is piercing sword, elemental gun, shadow sword. But that's okay; you don't have to follow that plan. :)

In your loadout, your key weakness is fiends. Fiends are arguably the hardest monster family. They're vulnerable to piercing weapons, which you don't have yet. You'd be using your DA on them, rather than your Acheron, but DA is pretty slow for fighting those little guys. (You're also weak against beasts, but the AI on those has been weakened to the point where your Acheron is strong enough to kill them. At least until you attempt Shadow Gloaming Wildwoods in the distant future.)

So you could try a piercing gun (Callahan, Blitz Needle, Plague Needle) or a piercing bomb (Dark Briar Barrage), although you said that you're not into bombs.

Thank you =D

I have read your sword guide before and its great! It helped me narrow my choices down to these.

Anyways, I'm not saying I'm not into bombs, I'm saying I'm to stupid too ever try one. I was thinking of either getting one of your 3 choices of guns, a Argent Peacemaker, or Supernova (just for normal consistent damage). What do you think? And once again, Thank You!

The only really viable gun that deals normal damage is the Valience.

I would go with the two Antigua variants (Argent Peacemaker and Sentenza) and then the Callahan or Blitz Needle for your piercing gun. The Callahan has more uses than the Blitz Needle, but the Blitz Needle has the highest burst of DPS in the game and is the weapon of choice for the current Tier 3 boss.

The other option is an Alchemer. They tend to be better if you want to go hybrid gunner/swordsman, instead of a swordsman with a sidearm. If you plan to stick with primarily swords, stay with the Antigua lines, but if you do want to eventually stray into more gunner-like builds, then the Alchemers are the superior choice. In general, Alchemers are better for dealing high amounts of damage to large groups, but they have a harder time with individuals. The Antiguas are better for finishing off random enemies or pulling new ones, instead of actually killing them.

The Pulsar line is also a good choice, but they tend to be... dangerous. They aren't party friendly, and you can easily find yourself spamming them endlessly, causing pain and suffering for your teammates. They are a good last resort, in case of emergency, type weapon.

If you were to get a piercing

If you were to get a piercing sword, I would say go for ap or polaris. Both are pretty good for dealing with fiends. Ap has multiple shots, allowing you to shield before reloading, and either blocking or avoiding damage. Polaris, when you fan out the explosions, can hit dodging fiends with ease. Supernova is fine, mechanic-wse, but the shock will definitely help you with controlling them. Just take care to not explode everything everywhere when your teammates are trying to fight.

For Bopp's 3 piercing gun choices:

Plague is a weaker blitz with poison status. It requires a large amount of krogmo coins to obtain recipes for, and is generally not preferred. Poison, if you didn't know, reduces enemy's attacks and defence. You do more damage, but generally a needle of any kind will kill pierce weak enemies in a charge or 2, poison or not. The damage reduction on it might be helpful, but again, charging a needle will deliver so much dps it usually isn't worth it.

Blitz needle is basically the same as an autogun, which you can pick up for 1-2k cr on the auction house. Buy one, try it out in training hall, and decide if you like the mechanics of the shot and charge. Apply it to fighting speedy devilites, and determine whether or not you would enjoy using it.

Callahan is a 2 shot gun, with the same root while shooting effect as needles. It deals significantly less dps than blitz. But then everything else does too. Its basically a sniper rifle/magnum/whatever high powered rifle/handgun you want to imagine it as. Much safer than a blitz, but also takes more time to kill something.

agree; you need only two damage types

Traevelliath and Demonicsothe are both giving good advice, as usual. (And I'm glad you've found my guide useful.)

Blitz Needle has the advantage of being one of the best weapons in Firestorm Citadel. I agree that Plague Needle seems less good; I was just listing it as an option. Callahan is one of my favorite weapons, but that's more about fun than about damage output. Anyway, Callahan is easier to use against fiends than Blitz, in my experience.

You don't need all three non-normal damage types --- just two. If you go with just elemental and shadow, then I'd recommend an elemental gun such as Argent Peacemaker, Nova Driver, Storm Driver, or (shudder) Polaris, long before a shadow gun (because of turrets).

Valiance is definitely an option. It's a nice all-around gun: easy, mobile, pretty fast, decent knockback, decent damage.

Amazing...Thanks

Wow...so much good advice =D.

I have been considering Polaris a lot as well as Blitz Needle, Argent Peacemaker, and Callahan for guns. As I said, I'm very much a run in and kill on sight type of guy. I play Spiral Knights to have fun,not too competitive. I have taken all of your guns into consideration and here are what I think:

Blitz Needle: I really liked the auto gun when I had it but when I went to Jelly, I dropped my guns for swords so yea so far I like this series.

Storm Driver: I had the Voltech Alchemer Mk 2 but same with the auto gun I dropped it when I did Jelly because the jellies come so close to me.

Polaris: I find this weapon a bit annoying when someone just knocks monsters away from me but it looks like it suits what I need (slow bullets kinda got me wary) >=D

Argent Peacemaker: First gun I considered because it did Piercing but then I saw it did 50/50 of Elemental and Piercing (I still really like it though)

Valiance: I've played around with blasters and they seem really good on my lower levels (Snorbalx Lair). Wonder if it's any good later on =/

Callahan: Last but not least...a very underused gun. It seems really fun to use.

Thanks for all of your advice! You guys are awesome. Now I need to narrow it down a little more. Please tell me the top 3 from these guns that suits my build (when I finish it): Vog Set, BTS, Acheron, Divine Avenger, (Apply useful gun here). Once again thank you!

no right answer

Argent Peacemaker: First gun I considered because it did Piercing but then I saw it did 50/50 of Elemental and Piercing (I still really like it though)

In case you're using old information: AP was changed to pure elemental a few months ago. It is now highly recommendable.

Please tell me the top 3 from these guns that suits my build (when I finish it): Vog Set, BTS, Acheron, Divine Avenger, (Apply useful gun here).

There is no right answer. My gut feelings are for stuff like Storm Driver (underused, good damage, good status) and Blitz Needle (really powerful later in the game, may be hard for beginners against fiends). But those gut feelings are based on having a piercing sword for use against fiends.

Travelliath and Demonicsothe are both endorsing Argent, and I have to say that it's a great gun that's easy for a sworder to use. It should work decently against fiends. Its only drawback for you is that it can't shock-lock turrets like Polaris can. But if you come out of this thread having chosen Argent, then that's a good outcome.

Argent Peacemaker it is

I'll take it =)

Argent Peacemaker it is then. The guys I do runs with have Kilowatt Pulsars already and are building to a Polaris anyways. Thanks for all of your suggestions! I'll build a Blitz Needle later in Tier 3. So I'l go for Antigua once I run enough jellies (or get more crowns XD).

Once again I'm very thankful of you guys for helping me. Nice to know the community here is very friendly and helpful =D (unlike other forums I've been to where there's 12 year old CoD fanboys swearing d i c k jokes).
