Now that I have your attention, this is not a dual wielding per say but the closest thing one could get while keeping our current game mechanics. I propose offensive shields, four shield lines that start at a 3* and go up to 5*. Each shield provides normal protection equivalent to that of the swift strike buckler. The shields have the chance to inflict a status on a shield bump, as the star rating is increased the protection rating of the shield stays at the 3* rating but the chance to inflict status increases. Therefore we have an offensive shield at the cost of being quite susceptible to attack. If a status is inflicted on a shield bump, it would not go into effect until the enemy has been fully bumped away that way if you were using the freeze or shock shield you would not be freezing or shocking the enemy right next to you.

3* good chance of minor status

4* good chance of moderate status

5* high chance of moderate status (3/5 chance to inflict) if this is OP then we could switch to good chance of strong status.

Poison: 3* Weakening buckler : 4* Crippling buckler : 5* Formidable buckler
Freeze: 3* Chilling buckler : 4* Icy buckler : 5* Flash Freeze buckler
Fire: 3* Smoldering buckler : 4* Burning buckler : 5* Inferno buckler
Shock: 3* Jolting buckler : 4* Shocking buckler : 5* Lightening buckler

Each 5* version has an aura of it's respective status. The poison shield line looks like a spiral wound or woven poison bramble. The Freezing line is blue/white and has the shape of a snow flake. The fire line is orange/red and has the shape of a flame. The Shocking line is yellow/blue with the shape of a fat lightening bolt. If I get time I will try and add some art to better express my ideas. Please express your ideas on balancing, OPness and/or modifications.

PETS TOO

I'm skeptical about this. Now if we did have offensive sheilds, this would be how to make them, but I'm not sure if the premise is a good call. I'm gonna say +0, but if the GM do put in offensive shields, make them like this. Also, the shields should have the logo of the status they inflict on them.

Misleading title

I knew it would get looked at with that title ;). So are either of you going to share why you think this is bad or are you just going to say NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!? The Swift Strike could already be considered an offensive shield with it's glass like state and huge buff, so what makes you opposed to these offensive shields?

Not really

Swiftstrike is a shield for offensive players, giving huge buffs, but it isn't directly used in attacking.

I like the idea! I have no

I like the idea! I have no idea how it would play in game, but it would be something cool to test. It definitely opens up a lot of possibilities for the weapons without good crowd control, as they can then rely on shields to cover that weakness.

Thanks Haven. If you were

Thanks Haven. If you were kiting a mob while bumping them back into the mob this could be very useful for crowd control. Obviously you wouldn't want to be bumping with the freeze shield if you were being surrounded which could freeze lock enemies right next to you if they were obstructed from being bumped. Another thing to keep in mind is how weak the shield is, if you have ever used the SSB you know just what I mean.

Yes, it would be worth

Yes, it would be worth testing. The only problem would be that you'd get screwed over if you fought quicksilvers with a shock shield or something. With weapons you can just avoid usingsaid weapon, but you can't shange shields mid-battle. I could see lots of new players killing themselves on roar like this. "I thought it had shock ressistance?!" "No it has shock DAMAGE."

I'm not sure what roar is but

I'm not sure what roar is but I'm going to assume it's a mission. I figure by the time a player is acquiring 3* gear they should know what shield bumping is and generally know what to expect in the levels but I do agree if one did take the wrong shield into the wrong area it could pose a problem for them.

While I am not sure how

While I am not sure how frustrating encounters with quicksilvers, oilers, and ice cubes might really be, this isn't a reason to quit on the idea as it can be worked around. For example, if you hold your attack button down while you shield bump, you active the chance to proc the status. There, now you can control when you may or may not inflict the status. Also there's an arsenal before every stage. Everyone gets bit the first time they put the wrong status on a creature, but at that point in the game you might already know what to expect from a level.
