How accurate is the "danger indicator" on the minimap?

I'm just curious about how accurate people think the "danger indicator" n the minimap is.

I'm on a slow computer, and I still haven't gotten the knack of strafing down, but I often start dying when the indicator turns green, and by orange, I'm usually toast. Do others find it similar? Or, do people fight up to red or even past purple?

I also find that single levels can make a big jump, I've gone from black to yellowish in one floor, and also light blue to orange.

Learn to shield bump, shoot

Learn to shield bump, shoot until you can safely attack with a sword without getting hit.
There, the difficulty indicator means nothing now.

Not really Zaide, you can

Not really Zaide, you can fight well past purple (I have) but the indicator is still pretty honest about how big your margin of error is. The amount of damage, degree of status effects, number of enemies, and intelligence/aggression of those enemies is nicely reflected in the status meter.

Of course, once you're in full 5* gear it tends to lie a bit more. A lot of deadly areas start showing up as green. Sure, I can get through them without taking a single hit, but if I sneeze at the wrong moment I will most likely die. XD

Yeah but if you're in 5*

Yeah but if you're in 5* gear, T1 and T2 danger rooms are basically free money. If you're dying in T1 and T2 danger rooms or arenas and you're wearing full 5* gear, you're doing something very, very wrong, because at that point you're supposed to be practically invincible for those areas.

You forget that equipment that is deemed "too good" for a Tier suffers penalties when used in those tiers.

Tier 1: Equipment 2* and over will be reduced in effectiveness
Tier 2: Equipment 4* and over will be reduced in effectiveness
Tier 3: No equipment reduction

Yeah but it scales. T3 armor

Yeah but it scales.
T3 armor and weapons will always be better than T2 armor and weapons in T2 and T1

Sketchy, you're wrong. 5*

Sketchy, you're wrong. 5* weapons are still heavily reduced in Tier 3 all the way through depth 28. The growth of weapons is logarithmic, 4* gear is still growing slowly at that depth and 5* hasn't even approached the point at which it plateaus.

You're wrong

@Foxhound3857

You're wrong. 5* players can and do die in Tier 2. Danger rooms are danger rooms and sometimes you just get overwhelmed. This happens a lot when you're running with less experienced players. I often have to risk my neck to save someone and I end up taking more damage. It adds up.

Soloring is different. You can solo tier 1 and tier 2 with 5* equipment and never use a capsule.. but as soon as you toss in the chaos of other players it gets messy.

That's not my analysis, but the wiki's. If it's wrong you should tell them.

Well that's your opinion I

Well that's your opinion I guess. Personally, I think anyone who passes up a Danger Room for any reason other than a lack of energy is a fool. The loot is awesome, the heat is awesome, and unless you go in with really low health or your teammates just fail on the highest possible level, they're piss easy to conquer with decent equipment.

I think the indicator is related to how many monsters there are on a level (as someone may have stated) and strength of monsters. The further you go down, the more monsters there are and the tougher the monsters are.

I seemed to recall, when I

I seemed to recall, when I first started play and didn't understand a lot of stuff, that the indicator worked ok for me on T1. I'm now on T2, and it doesn't seem to be accurate as accurate for me. Yesterday and this morning, I checked a newish player on T1, and it again seemed much more accurate. Actually, if people, as mentioned in some replies, can play through purple, that means it isn't accurate there too.

So, in retrospect, I should have asked: Is the indicator accurate over the entire game, or just for certain stages of character development. Formites tend to be much more experienced than the average player, so asking friends/guildmates may give a less biased sample.

The danger indicator only

The danger indicator only takes your equipments' statistics and stars.
It doesn't take into account any skill level whatsoever.
