Hi all. unsure if such topics have been much discussed previously. but essentially, wondering what differentiates Tier 3, from Tier 2, from Tier 1. i been playing Tier 2 mostly, for Basil reasons. been playing this game since May 2011. lately, i been starting to do Tier 3 at the mission, and likely to start with Tier 3 in arcade, to get my 5* armours / gears. the main difference i experience is that - it feels the same as Tier 2, but the moment i get hit, my health sometimes depletes rather quickly - and next moment, im dead.

I am thinking of starting a thread with ppl contributing to the difference they feel between:

A) Tier 3 VS Tier 2
1)
2)
3)
4)

B) Tier 2 VS Tier 1
1)
2)
3)
4)

offhand, i hear comments like - tier 3 monsters usually has less normal damage (but still do) as compared to tier 1. or tier 3 wolves teleport more. or maybe the monsters are exactly the same, their hits just result in more damage ? personally, i also realize i can be pretty reckless in tier 2 and still survive, but i realize recklessness is rewarded with death quickly in tier 3.

All enemies attack more

All enemies attack more often, get new moves, and hit you harder and with more specialized damage as you move to the next tier.

Your Health bar is this long:
[=======================]

There are a huge number of enemies on each level who can take away a quarter of your health with a single hit. Even with 5* helm/armor/shield of correct damage type and status defense, you won't last more than a few hits in tier 3. Then there are only so much pills and hearts dropping. Sometimes a lot, sometimes none at all.

Conclusion: The game requires you to avoid getting hit at all costs.

Also, those flame thrower turrets are just *scary* in T3.

right: skill and knowledge about avoiding damage

This game is really well-designed, in that at the start (Tier 1) no skill is required --- you pretty much just walk up to monsters and bash them until they die --- but the skill requirements go steadily up. By the time you get to Tier 3, you can't just bash monsters. You need to know their AIs. You need to be able to "read" them, so that you know when they'll attack. You need to hold back and wait for just the right moment to attack, while dodging lots and lots of projectiles.

In Tier 1, you may have 5 health bars, but each monster's hit does 0.5 bars of damage, so you can sustain about 10 hits. In Tier 3, you might have 20 health bars, but each monster's hit does 7 bars of damage, so you can sustain only 3 hits.

Hi all, thanks for all the

Hi all, thanks for all the comments !

"attack more often" - makes a lot of sense. i found that my bomb charging works well in tier 2 sin city, but i found the charging always gets interrupted when i do tier 3 mission (sin city). havent really done much of T3 yet, so cant comment on the flame turrets. but Bopp's comments got me to thinking when i first started playing in T1. i just bash multiple times, without shielding (cos i didnt learn how to) & i was in fact just playing with a mouse, without directional keypads (i always wondered how ppl could look left when they move right). clearly, those "skills" didnt get me far in T2. subsequently, i paid attention to shielding, directional keypad, damage-specific offense and defense, and the game was really more enjoyable. all these comments really explain why a knight can die so quickly in T3 - & the comment that "avoid getting hit" is the best defense, really holds true in T3.
