I plowed thru a bunch of missions and got my T3 Clearance! I did a run through t3 arcade, Mad Bomber gear with trinkets, Max CTR, Max Damage. I took AP for range when needed for switches and such, otherwise I took three shard bombs: Crystal, ISB, and Splinter. First layer was Beast, second was Gremlin. Saw lots of slimes, beasts, gremlins, and constructs.
For the most part, it wasn't too hard. I'm getting the hang of the shard bombs now, and they are pretty handy! I even did an arena. Round 3 smoked me hard, but rounds 1 and 2 of a slime/gremlin/beast arena weren't so bad. I find that kiting needs some new tricks, namly circling around tightly to avoid attacks but keep them in a set area. I also find I'm using my shield more than i have in the past as a bomber. Bumping things away or slowing down running away is OK now, because of the delay in the shards. Also, I can have 2-3 bombs going at once. So at times i was spamming them with so much knockdown that I was perfectly safe. I do think I wouldn't normally solo this way, as I did die more than I ever do if I play safer with status and nitro bombs. But even still they worked really well. I wish I could test it with a group, because I think if there were people to pick me up off the floor, spamming shards would be a great assist to them. At last, a good (free) shadow bomb for gremlin and slime hunting!
Then, on the very last level, I saw a danger room and went for it. I was swarmed by fiends, devlites and greavers and it ended with trojans. I got killed so fast and so often it wasn't even funny. The greavers just stuck on my butt and took forever to kill, because as I ran, they just followed me right outside of the shard zone. I couldn't keep them in, because I was getting swarmed. Then the shard knockdown wasn't fast enough for the devlites. With gremlins, beasts, and slimes, it interupted them fast enough. But with devlites, they got every attack off anyways, even if they started it when standing in the second shards. Did I kill them all? Yes, but only thanks to infinite energy revs.
So, I think the shards are OK. But they really aren't fiend friendly. I intend to try and hunt more fiends. But the saddest thing is that this is all to make RSS a better bomb, and in so doing we've lost a fiend bomb! It seems like ISB has been fixed to be anti-slime, but now RSS has been broken so it is no longer anti-fiend. I think it needs to be sped up, but I don't know how you'd do that without making it so I'd only use that bomb.
I wonder if the stun bug is what made the fiend danger room more difficult? Because the stun of the new RSS would cause all pending attacks from the fiends to just fire off anyway when they got stunned instead of interrupting them.
Haven't tested it myself on fiends yet but was wondering if that was what your experience was.
