Ok so i wanted to sell a Volcanic Halo for 1.2mil cr(Buy price) bid price was 999k, and the listing fee was 50k cr, so then i got it back saying that it wasn't sold, and naturally I thought I would have my money back but no! Wasted 50k on that! D: This is one reason why I hate the auction House, OOO needs to make it so if the listing fee is at a certain price, you will get at least 75% of it back in compensation

Besides, if you really want to sell something like that, just post in the bazaar and get a buyer that way.

The entire point of the listing fee is that you lose it all if it doesn't sell, but get it back if it does. It makes you set a price that it will sell at. That way, you can't just put in junk auctions selling crap for far more than any sane person would buy.
I'd say the transaction fee is the big deterrent for large auctions instead. Straight-up not receiving 10% of the cash that the seller bought it for sucks. Better to use the Bazaar. It's why you rarely see people selling good things on the AH.

.... yes this is troublesome but thats simply how the auction house works.
the listing fee is to put your items on display for a consumer to buy. there is a limited amount of time before an auction ends. the auction house is a service. its not something that is free. to show that you are willing to trade your item to other players is the purpose of the auction house.
although its business ... i agree that its dirty at times.
you just have to know how the auction house works. it can either work with you or against you.
the reason why there are several options on the length of time your item will be in the auction house is a service to merchants for consumers to buy an item they like.
if there is no demand for that item you are selling for, and/or your sell rate is too high. your item will be returned to you without any compensation.
