The only major differences
The only major differences are the appearance and the offensive boost.
Vog > ASI for all swords
Volc. Salamander > Blanket slime bonus
If you want an anti-slime set, you should go with Virulisk, not Volc. Salamander since Virulisk offers pierce defense (which slimes do, cough cough), while V.Sala has elemental, which is useless for slimes...

In general, Vog.
Vog is just better.
However, there is one reason to go Sala: you can use the 3* to farm RJP very effectively, then upgrade to 4* and become able to farm FSC effectively. This can be useful if you're set on farming FSC before you hit 5*.
However, you'd still probably be better off getting a Magic set, then.

As a person who owns a volcanic salamander ill have to say its pretty much useless, like someone had mentioned above if you want
an armor for slimes you should make a Virulisk not a volcanic salamander, the only real reson to get the volcanic salamander is for its looks in other words a costume. vog on the other hand will give you a better bonus for the type of defense it has (elemental/normal/fire) you wont find elemental defense very usefull against slimes (volcanic salamander bonus).

Yes, the fire resistance is the same, at +4. Many armors have this level of fire protection. The damage resistances also appear to be the same.
Dark-Flare's post contains all of the crucial information. Simply put, Volcanic Salamander is one of the worst armors in the game, and Vog Cub is one of the best armors in the game.

If this thread is specifically about you and which would be better, rather just in general, we'll need much more info. Although, in both cases, the answer would almost always be Vog Cub.
