Just the other day, I was doing just fine with my winmillion (Level 10, UV: Extra damage to construct: Low) + Miricle hood + Mighty Cobalt armor. I would do a 140 damage total on a slime in tier 3! Now ever since I bought myself the ash tail gear, my damage got decreased. Now I am causing 70 damage total on the slimes. What is this all about? I thought the whole point of the Ash Tail Gear is to make your attack power high, not the other way around!

Is this a bug, or a knockoff? I can't tell. >=(

The only thing I can figure

The only thing I can figure is that you are attacking slimes at a higher level. The damage you deal increases the deeper into the Clockworks you are, so you could be dealing 70 damage to a slime in Tier 1 (or 2?) but deal 140 damage to a slime in Tier 3.

Aside from that there's nothing I can figure that would cause your attack damage to decrease.

hey

um i think trynant meant you do less damage the deeper you go, bc the monsters are tougher. like i do 100 on even graveyard monsters (which are strong against shadow) with my lvl10 faust in t2, but only pull 70-90 on constructs (which are weak against shadow) in t3. also, winmillion isn't that great against slimes anyways... i do 150 and 190-210 with my faust's one-two. also, i know you have things against "heavy swords" but here's something: crowd control. i can hit a whole group of monsters, and EACH swing knocks them back. and i'm not entirely sure, but i think it takes the same time for your 3 swings as my two, and i'm doing more damage. you just have to know how to watch your back, and sometimes hit one way and have the second the opposite way

No...

The deeper you go the more base damage you do. I'm not going to sort out what resistances are going on for dude217, but for my Leviathan, I deal 30-something in T1 generally, and 60-70ish in T2, and around 109 in T3. It varies from depth to depth and enemy to enemy, but that's the general range. Same with my alchemers, they get more powerful as I go deeper. This is well documented, the increasing power with depth has been discussed in other threads and briefly talked about by a GM.

Ok, now I understand. Aw man!

Ok, now I understand. Aw man! I can't one shot everyone I guess even with the Ash Tail set...then what good is the point of increasing your attack power, if the game basically nerfs it? I should of bought the Vog recipe instead of the Skolver Coat recipe. Humph =(

Clearing up some topics

A Low Damage Bonus is basically insignificant; for numeric purposes, let's go with it adding just 5 more damage to a hit (which is not far off.)

Wearing both pieces of the Ash Tail set will give you a stack of a Medium Damage Bonus on Swords - 10 additional damage.

Overall, bonuses are just supposed to give you an edge, rather than allowing the player to boss through everything.

Regarding damage based on Tier and Depth:
Say you have a 4* sword, and you hit a Jelly on Depth 24 for 130 damage.
Then you encounter the same type of Jelly in Depth 19, and hit it with the same sword, but you only deal 90.

The damage difference is because the base damage, as mentioned, of your 4* weapon is still growing, increasing with each depth. So the deeper you are, the more damage you should deal with a weapon of Tier-corresponding star level. [This was likely the situation you encountered with your Winmillion, Matoro.]
