I mean, really, why crowns? Why not, coins, or something like that.
Think of all the people with millions of crowns! How do they keep them?
Even something as simple as a 2* would be a challenge to pay for
And who counts all that?!
I'm considering the volume of a crown to be equal to 3,651 ants here.

And what's even worse, they don't even allow us to put them on our heads instead of those super-expensive things.

We use our extra crowns to buy slave Gremlins dig a big hole half a mile from Haven, and then fill it with all of our extra ccrowns.

Crown to Solstice Crowns is ONE HUGE PILE OF CROWNS
Dunno bout ferrets, you'd have to ask Hyperion about that.

And I dunno, what do they do with crowns anyway? And how do we know whose crown is which, some people might get attached or even name them

They're just called crowns.

They're just called crowns. That's the name of the coin. It's like the Canadian loonie, not a bird, but a coin.

Another example:

You pay with bills and coins:

Rather than a bird:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzal

So in SK you pay with coins:
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Crowns#Finding_Crowns_while_Adventuring

Rather than a piece of headgear:

Still hard to carry a ton of coins considering their size....

"Crown" is money currency in Sweden.
They arent some huge headgear, just coins and bills...
Possibly OOO employer who invented name for SK crowns was swedish.

(Case closed)

Denmark uses crowns too

Denmark uses crowns too (danske kroner). It has amused me ever since I learnt what the currency in SK is called.

But yeah, generally the bajillion coins that the crowns are seem impractical when you apply logic. That's pretty standard for game currencies, though. :P

They're not coins, they're hubcaps.
