Hi.
Issue is that java.exe keeps using all RAM from my system (up to 3'2 GB which means that the rest of the OS becomes unusable).
When it reaches that point (usually at the end of FSC or crimson hammer) my client starts to freeze up to the point it's no longer playable.

It's on low graphical settings, all drivers updated and stuff...
I even replaced game's JVM into 1.7u5 64 bits activating G1 garbage collector via extra.txt. That seemed to work at the beginning but now this problem has returned.

Specs are (from dxdiag):

Is yer computer dusty? Mostly

Is yer computer dusty?

Mostly the physical memory usage, if it is too high, it will overload and close by itself.
For some reasons I had this problem before of freezing, then next I get a blue screen of death.

I cleaned off the dust inside the computer and things went well now. Also check if yer fan is noisy, this also counts that the computer is overheating.

I'm using a laptop so I don't

I'm using a laptop so I don't think I'll be able to open it to clean it up.
It has attached a cooling pad to prevent overheating... it still does get hot though.

A laptop huh... I'm not great

A laptop huh...

I'm not great with laptops, but:

1. I have heard of people who use laptops to play Spiral Knights, has the physical memory overload issue as well.
2. Prevent yer laptop overheating for more than 30 minutes/more than one hour, the physical memory will just keep increasing while ye are playing Spiral Knights continuously.
3. The first statement is some of the users and likewise, ye have already attached a cooling pad to yer laptop, I'm not sure how to identify the problem, I know only a few of computer stuffs.. ehehe.

Should ye wait for a technical reply(GM Helios, or anyone who can help) so it will help to identify the problem properly. I can't do much for now. :o

Laptop or Desktop.....

Shouldn't really matter whether you are on a laptop or desktop, so long as you meet the minimum system requirements.

Overheating generally doesn't cause memory usage, its vice versa. I don't even think memory usage alone is enough to cause any real damage though.

This game is made from Java, and Java is in itself finicky.

You may have malware. Try running your favorite anti malware program.

When exactly did you first notice this problem. If it was before you installed new drivers, try rolling them back to a previous version. Check and see what services are using Java via the task manager. Right click the java.exe and got to services. It is very possible that multiple programs are trying to access java.exe and in return its allocating itself more memory. There are a number of things that could cause high memory usage.

Hm.

I play on a laptop--it's actually a Toshiba Satellite, but a different model than the OP's.

The only difference I can think of that would matter is the graphics card---I have an Intel card, OP has an ATI. I experience no RAM problems with SK and I have the same amount of RAM as you; I do use Windows Ready Boost to give an extra 2 gigs to my hard drive cache, but that does practically nothing for anything.
You might want to try an older ATI driver, as crazy as that might sound.

I suggest we perform a dark ritual to summon Helios or somebody with an ATI card; I have no idea what driver would work. I also second the malware scan. It's odd that it would act up only in FSC, but try it anyway.
