SO ABOUT THAT PARTY FINDER SYSTEM

I'm split between posting this in here or New Recruits, but hey, I figure this isn't exactly a question easily answered...

I know that the Party Finder exempts parties that are locked (duh), as well as parties currently in the even-numbered Stratums of the Clockworks. However...

1. Exactly what "Mission-Parties" will it show?
2. It seems to also exempt some other parties that are not locked for some reason (I would know this because two of my guildies could not find my open party at a Clockworks Terminal). Why is this?

Any insight into this? :P

It's suppsoed to match you with similar rank players. It hardly works that way but could be a reason. Or maybe different servers.

Probably because it only displays parties on your selected server.

Yeah, I'm not really understanding the "similar rank" players bit when I'm a low-end T3 player going into arcades with people that don't know how to shield (or wait for other people to revive them).

@Tersakaff - By selected server, do you mean Haven channel, or language channel? Cause Haven channels make no sense since the clockworks doesn't HAVE channels, and it's pretty much definite it's not going to show Spanish servers if you play in an English server.

"or wait for other people to revive them"
You mean .. people .. are supposed to ce rev? I think you're the nub here then.

And by server I mean EU or US.

Actually.. it has sent me to

Actually.. it has sent me to parties on the EU server before when I am US server. I wish the party finder would tell us what server the party is on. On top of that the ranked thing I find a lot of the parties it shows me are tier 1 parties and tier 2.. unless that is what Vanguards or people with 24.9k prestige are playing these days.

I'm guessing it checks your language (there's a Party Any/All/whatever option in the main menu), then your rank missions (current and one level prior), then just whoever might be in the Arcade.

It does tell you what server

It does tell you what server the party is on. Or to be more specific, it tells you if the party is on the server you're NOT on. By which I mean, if you're on US, you'll see (Europe) beside the parties on the EU server.

However.. this may only show if you have a specific server set in the Options (mine's set to US). Maybe it doesn't show if you don't have one specified (pretty sure that's an option).

Also, I do recall one of the GM's saying they filter the party list by language.

But I must say, it does confuse me that there are so many parties supposedly the same (t3) mission rank as me that do t1 clockworks. =/ But it would make sense if Dorael has it right and it shows parties at your current mission rank as well as one rank below.

Something else puzzling, however, is that sometimes I've seen open arcade parties in the party finder but if I try to Join a party in that same arcade gate (instead of through the party finder) it says there aren't any open parties.

Bump

@Terasakaff - The "don't know how to" applies to that second statement as well, although at this point you probably wouldn't get what that means.

It definitely does NOT show all of the available arcade parties, as I stated before, and the "similar knight ranking" thing obviously can't apply to arcade as well, given such the wide variety of stratums and skills of players.

I'm still wondering on how the system exactly works. All of the replies are appreciated though.

@Minoli ikr, I'm Vanguard/25k

@Minoli ikr, I'm Vanguard/25k prestige rank and I see a ton of t1/t2 parties.. like I've mentioned on another topic are these the tiers our "Vanguards" are playing? I make it a point to not play anything below t3 if I don't have too since I'd like to stay decent at this game.

Well how many Vanguards

Well how many Vanguards actually run the Arcade anyway? I assume most of us do the King of Ash mission, Prestige missions, or Shadow Lairs. Of the Vanguards who would like to run the Arcade for whatever reason, how many would actually want to do it in a public game? And finally, how many would start their own and presumably wait for it to fill up?

I'm assuming it's not so much showing us T1-T2 runs over T3 as there just aren't that many public T3 ones.

Party finder shows both

Party finder shows both parties on US and EU servers.
Party finder show parties both on even and uneven floors.
Party finder matches parties to your status like drunk matching two sock with different black tone.

I do Arcade runs. Infact, I do a lot of tier 2 runs actually. 3* recipes sell for a lot, if you're lucky.

Processing Thoughts of You Always

Oh Asuka

And yeah, there's probably some variant of Sod's Law that dictates you will never find a party with people who have the same rank, and you will never find a party for anything below t1. Either that or they're at Moorcroft.

It is strange just how many

It is strange just how many T1 runs show up in the list, even when you're a Vanguard rank. I can't imagine there are that many people out there who have completed all of the rank missions yet are still doing T1 runs, so maybe some wires are getting crossed somewhere. I don't mind the T2 runs showing up at all, since there are still some T2 boss rewards and 3-star boss recipes I want to track down. Plus, sometimes I want to relax a bit with T2 instead of having to stay on my toes in T3.

Actually...

I'm quite fond of T1 parties, especially if there's a gate with an arena at Floor 5 (and more). Golden Phantom is/was a great example (and Iron Pawn from a few weeks ago) with arenas at Floors 5 and 6 netting me massive crowns.

Most people haven't seemed to have figured this out though yet...

Now that you mention it, I

Now that you mention it, I did used to run T1 in order to get rid of the T2 entry fees, and there were certain gates that netted me a hefty profit. It is sort of fun to run through a level thwomping everything like Godzilla, too. :D
