Usually, I wouldn't take this course of action when going about joining a guild, but quite frankly I'm really sick of seeing "Active/Mature/Tier 3/Shadow Lairs/PvP" etc. and since everyone adds that to their Guild Thread title it's difficult to know which to join if they all have the same thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for variety, but when almost every guild has this "variety", it makes me wonder how different certain guilds really are.
When I join a guild, all that I require is a community; a network of people that are friendly, diverse, intelligent and if those people make me proud of the community I'm part of, then I know where I'll be staying until the guild disbands.
Now, I'm not a 'Quantum Human', I can't be in two places at once so I've not been in every guild and experienced everything within said guilds. However, over the time that I've been with Three Rings and their initially wonderful game, I've not seen a great deal of differentiation with guilds over the past year and a half. It seems as if there's 2 types of guilds, that I've happened to have been part of.
Firstly, guilds that take to the typical hierarchy that you'd expect, home to a relatively small, closed group of friends that includes the GMs and most of the Officers, adding into the mix the Vets; either not interested or cut out to be Officers, the people that have tagged along for a while who seem to inter-mingle with the recruits and members while having some ties with the higher ranks.
Secondly, guilds that aren't too concerned with ranks resulting in a rather average, steady, level spread of members, containing a few radicals who spice up guild chat every now and then, but nothing too special that goes on in general. These tend to be the less "well-established" guilds, whose recruitment threads occasionally get lost in the depths of the guild recruitment ocean.
To be part of a community that separates itself from the two I have previously experienced is all I ask, to have a guild master who doesn't show sings of a sociopathic nature (said Tersakoff to Razorlined as he took a quick glimpse at his extensive pony figurine collection to make sure all 143 were still there), who doesn't migrate to other games and leave without a trace.
I ask, are there any guilds out there who meet my needs?
Wow, I read all that you wish to have in a guild, and, its amazing how much that your discription fits my guild...
~We are a small group of friends. (About 30) I am the only GM who comes on due to irl issues of the others. We are having an election for new officers for our current officer quit, but she comes beack from time to time with rare visits. Some of our Vets are not concerned to be officers atm.
~We use guild chat a lot, but we don't SPAM it, there are times that we don't usually use guild chat aslo. I don't know what you mean by "well-establiushed" but my guild page does get lost in the ocean of recruitment threads.
~I um, don't migrate to other games, for now, I am loyal to SK.
When I saw that I was like, Advent Children is for him. So, take AC into consideration.
Thanks,
Isekuube, Founder of AC.
