From day one, my goal in SK was to build a loadout that would be useful in every situation, rather than specialized for FSC or against a monster type. I wanted to eliminate the problem of needing multiple loadouts for different situations.

The loadout is as follows:

Vog Cub Coat

Valkyrie Helm

Leviathan Blade

Nova Driver

Dragon Scale Shield

EDIT: All equips have Gremlin and Fiend UV's.

Any suggestions?

What about Skolver

What about Skolver coat+divine veil?

Or if you're offense oriented, Volcanic Demo Suit + Shadowsun Stetson + BTS

As for weapons, if you want balanced, I like to use Faust + Blitz Needle + Electron Vortex. I suppose you could switch blitz for nova driver against turrets, if you don't mind doubling up on elemental.

You want ASI? take deadshot

You want ASI? take deadshot chapeau. My point is that set has a bonus for all weapon types, plus resistance against all damage types (with the shield covering piercing)

Also you should REALLY use three weapon slots, and lev is pretty lame except for its charge attack...

I can share a gunner alchemer-only loadout only that I am making myself, as that's what I have experience in:

Perfect Seerus Mask/ Chaos Hood UV Shadow defense (depends on whether you want CTR or MAX dmg)

Chaos Cloak UV Piercing defense

Nova Driver VH Construct
Umbra Driver VH Slime
Storm Driver VH Undead
Umbra Driver VH Gremlin
vwvwvwvwvwvwvwvwvw
Switched to in need
vwvwvwvwvwvwvwvwvw
Umbra Driver VH Beast
Nova Driver (or any ele driver) VH Fiend

Swiftstrike Buckler

2x Elite Quick Draw Module

This one is an extreme overall-killer. Still need the Gremlin VH and Fiend VH tho.. shoot me a mail if you have any lol.

You say 'useful in every situation'. Divine veil + Ice Queen would be the best choice.

Your current armor needs pierce UVs and is missing lots of statuses. Else it's not technically 'all purpose'

Also if you wanted ASI, there's the switstrike buckler or trinkets.

Why does everyone spell

Why does everyone spell "Acheron" wrong?

@Larry geez not everyone can afford a billion UVs

@Zolota that's a terrible "all around" set, because there's no status defense whatsoever, no attack bonuses, and no defense against shadow or elemental, not to mention mediocre damage against all enemy types.

Even the Ancient Plate set is better than that. You may not get piercing defense, but the normal, stun, and health bonuses make up for it, despite the ASD (which incidentally doesn't affect bombers) and MSD (which is barely noticeable)

All around loadout. Why?

While I think an all-purpose loadout would be nice, is it really that hard to equip one that would be espescially helpful on that depth? Arsenal stations are at the beginning of practically every depth and if not it's the same enemy type on the next level. Plus, being able to exploit weaknesses and strengths works a lot better than having a loadout that probably isn't "all-purpose."

Processing Thoughts of You Always

Eh... your gun is excellent, but I have some other problems with your equipment. You're not going to want Dragon Scale for anything much other than Compound 42, since even in t3 I have encountered an awful lot of normal or split-normal damage. You also lack piercing defence on your set, although that's not an extreme issue since Beasts and Slimes are generally quite easy to dodge.

As Batabii has mentioned, Divine Veil/Skolver is generally more favoured due to the coat's damage bonus (since all-round damage bonuses are only available through armour or trinkets, and ASI can be obtained as an UV on weapons if you're willing to roll). However, you shouldn't do too badly with your loadout, although the lack of Shock and overall Fire resistance is unfortunate.

I would recommend you get a Crest of Almire if you can, or Grey Owlite. (I'd also recommend you get one of piercing, elemental and shadow type weapons, but that's just personal preference for damage efficiency and can be saved up for when you have the cash. You can do pretty much fine with your Levi and Nova, to be honest.)

Skolver / Divine veil is so

Skolver / Divine veil is so over used......

If you want this game to be fun, get Chaos gear. Chaos won't change your playstyle (yet possibly even make your playstyle more smooth with offensive bonuses) while still making the game harder. Other not as good suggestions to make the game harder include trashing your favorite, useful weapon for a different one that doesn't fit your playstyle.

It's viable for anyone, except bombers would want to go Mad Bomber instead for the extremely fun negative status \m/_(OwO)_\m/

Why do people keep

Why do people keep recommending 5* weapons? You can make two 4* weapons for almost the same price as a single 5* item.

Skolver + divine veil is overused because it's a good combo; I'm extremely happy with my divine veil. But you can get by without upgrading the Skolver to 5*; I use 4* ash tail armor for piercing defense, myself. My only 5* weapons are bombs. I replaced a single uber weapon with 2-3 good specialized weapons. That mix serves me well, even in lockdown.

Because in the long run you want 5* stuff. And you get money for them eventually.

Usually you should know what

Usually you should know what type of monster you will be facing. You can't bring faust to fiend stratum or not bring Blitz for FSC.

But say I don't know where I will be going, then I would wear full vog/skolver(depending on party size), shield would be VPS/BTS.
This gear offers pretty solid defence and good sword offence bonuses.
Because I am a swordsman for weapons I would take BTB/FF, DA, Acheron, Polaris and sword CTR trinkets. You would do fast and decent damage to any monster and take out all turrets where your sword cannot reach. The only down side of this loadout is that it's bad for FSC. For FSC you should definitely take Blitz.

Don't forget UVs!

You need a much smaller crapload of CE if you only upgrade a few items to 5*. I tend to favor diversity of gameplay experiences over maximizing star level on every piece; for most purposes, 4* weapons are quite good.

Depending on your playstyle, I might recommend an elemental brandish sword over the avenger. (My preference is the 4* voltedge precursor) The slow speed and combo vulnerability of the 2-swing swords can be very frustrating to use, whereas the brandish allows you to safely get off two swings- or a very powerful charge attack that inflicts status effects.

If you're focusing your time and energy on a few weapons, it's also worth purchasing or mass crafting for UVs that will make you more effective. For example, I have a silent nightblade with high bonus vs constructs, which is very effective in IMF and similar levels. ASI and CTR UVs are often highly prized, and even a low UV can helpful. With patience, these can be obtained by mass crafting, or through the auction house: my wolver coat UVs were both obtained for < 5k crowns each.

Warning: All purpose weapons

Warning: All purpose weapons can get boring and repetitive. And seeing other people with specialized damage can make you feel bad.
-Leviathan Blade: That's fine
-Nova Driver: if you are going all purpose, i recommend Supernova instead, since it's a gun, has knockback, and can take on all 3 turret types, needing less skill than with a Nova (since SN you can just spam shots)
-Consider a 3rd weapon for knockback: Triglav/ Sudaruska. Yeah, their damage sucks compared to specialized, but if you use it for knockback, say, when you're cornered and your SN can't explode, and you can't get a levi charge in time, then you can use your troika line wep to smash your way out.

-Valkyrie Helm + Vog coat:
Normal + Normal + Shadow + Elemental
~ Neutral Fire + Poison + Curse
Fiend Med. + ASI Med. Swords
---> The only piercing monsters that actually seem to pose a threat are a mob of jellies, so if you keep them at bay (with all the above suggested knockback weps) you should be fine.... The no fire is alright, if you can manage to avoid it. Poison's all good, curse is... eh... whatever.
Again, with the high knockback weps suggested, getting hit shouldn't be an issue if you can dodge decently. Offensive bonuses are fine too, especially the ASI for a troika, if you choose to get one.

Dragon Scale Shield: No normal defense will suck. If you can dodge well, get a swiftstrike to get even more asi. If you need it for tanking, you might as well get a Grey Owlite for the status, or the Crest of Almire, it's shadow counterpart (as having a broken shield in a swarm of devilites/ grievers is possible the worst thing that can happen to you)

The gunning loadout I use for

The gunning loadout I use for "I can't be bothered to tailor my gear right now" is

Divine Veil
Justifier
Swifstrike
Blitz (CTR)
Umbra (Vs Gremlin)
Polaris (Vs Constructs)
Flourish (Vs Fiend)
Gun Dmg
Penta

I don't understand how people play Spiral Knights without a Blitz Needle, Umbra is obligatory shadow/gun favoritism, Polaris is sometimes used for knockback but mostly just kills things because knockback rarely ever matters, and Flourish gives more mobile pierce than Blitz, and is useful for fiends.

Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, this loadout also provides:

- Good destruction of minerals, blocks, and treasure boxes (Blitz)
- Decent enough fast-ish bullet gun for when you need to shoot switches (Umbra)
- Slow bullets at long range for when you need that extra distance or you want to toggle a switch AFTER you walk through the gate (Polaris)
- Easy grass harvesting capabilities (Flourish)

It should be noted that I am not usually satisfied with the defensive capabilities of the set, since it uses Swiftstrike and has all-around poor defenses. It's usually fine, though, since I'm willing to sacrifice a good bit of combat effectiveness for the sake of not putting forth effort in caring about my gear.

For an all-purpose loadout I'd do this:

- Consider how much you feel it's important to be able to step on spikes, and decide whether you need piercing defense or not
- If you don't, split it Ele/Shadow or just go pure Shadow because fiends are jerks
- Take Swiftstrike, Owlite, or Crest depending on personal preference and probably to complement your armor
- Hit all three damage types, also making sure that you have at least one gun for switches and at least one sword for grass
- Main swords or guns like everybody else does and double up on the typed damage with your sidearm or sideblade
- Have UVs that complement your armor bonuses
- Carry at least one Penta

My "All Purpose" set is as

My "All Purpose" set is as follows:

1. Combuster
2. Acheron
3. Final Flourish
4. Polaris

Vog Cub Cap
Snarbolax/Skolver Coat
Barbarous Thorn Shield
Elite Sword Focus Module
Elite Quick Strike Module

With this, I cover all damage types, get some nice bonuses and have a ranged weapon. It's good when I'm feeling lazy.
