Yup. Java 7, Update 5....
If I get lucky I'll be able to join a party. This problem usually happens at random times, but very often though.... I'm sure I'll need a GM for this...

Where are you geologically? What kind of network connection (speed, wireless or not) do you have?
Because the black screen when you attempt to change location (e.g. jump to a party) and "Failed to Connect to the Server" point right at your network.
Thanks for helping out Evilnut, but I am using the U.S. servers and I do live in EST time. I always have 3 bars of connection and at least have 1 Mbps of connection. The game runs smoothly for me even on High quality settings, Fullscreen, 1920 x 1080 x 32 at 60 Hertz.
When exactly did you notice this issue? I would try scanning for viruses and malware. Then I would try both reinstalling the game and java. You data is stored online so you wont lose anything.
The reason why it says cannot connect to server is because it probably thinks your still logged on. Hence waiting a bit seems to fix this issue, so I dont think its network related.
I noticed this issue two and a half weeks ago. I have scanned constantly, I have a very good virus-software program. No, I don't have any issues with viruses or malware. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, Java, and Spiral Knights.
This is like AIDS or something. I have no symptoms of any problems on my computer, but Spiral Knights is messing up. o.O
If you have an ATI graphics chip, try an older driver. ATI has crappy drivers for their hardware. Im running out of things to test. Got to be missing something here.
As a last ditch effort. Run msconfig:
start--> type msconfig. Select the services tab--> there is a check box that says hid all microsoft services, click it. Then disable anything that does not pertain to your internet or graphics or steam. Move on to the start up tab and do the same here. Close and restart and try running the game.
I don't have an ATI graphics card. I'm using a REALLY BAD Intel Core i3 Graphics Chip. I don't know about msconfig, but I'll try it out.
I haven't been bumping this post because there was a period where it didn't crash at all. Now, I am replying to this post because it's starting to fail to connect to the server again....
Java 7 update 5?
