i was thinking that if u have the vortex u can suck them in and then place bomb n then u do big damage

There are other more powerful combos.
If you're doing this solo, it's best to get a lot of CTR on what you wish to combo a Vortex with.
Good combos are Vortex + Leviathan, Vortex + Brandish line of choice (As mentioned above), Vortex + Striker charge (Not entirely useless)
Also works well with most gun charges and the like... In the quick version, anything that has a charge attack, combine it with a Vortex. Any charge will work with one, ANY OF THEM (Although some are... Awkward.)

It is generally a bad idea to stand in the center of vortex bombs because the monsters can still attack. Having a second person would speed it up and let you move out of the vortex bomb's radius before the monsters get pulled in. However, the overall DPS of this tactic may be less than just having the two bombers shard bomb. Also, for this purpose a graviton vortex would be better than an electron because the electron vortex can cause shock which sometimes interrupts knock back and shield bumping which can leave you trapped in the center of a large group of monsters.

Before you invest too heavily in this tactic (like by paying to craft new items), note that shard bombs are set for a complete revamp in the near future, and they will behave quite differently. Read the testing feedback forum for details.

By the time the RSS explodes, even with max ctr, so will the electron vortex. Also, you'd be placing on the outside of the enemies, so you won't deal full damage. 2 bombers is another story.

Halifix is wrong; it works fine. Its hard to pull off and dangerous, but it is doable with as little as very high ctr.

Okay, I did some testing. With max ctr, you can charge an RSS at about the time the vortex initially detonates, and then charge another RSS, both of which will explode while they (should) be clumped up. However, I really wouldn't suggest standing on top of your vortex.

RSS nerf, anybody?
Getting a brandish or alchemer change is more effective.
Good with 2 bombers working together. Alone could be possible but not nearly as effective and fast.
Still, on both cases, you may prefer a Brandish.
