It's pretty frustrating to take an elevator down to the next floor, only to find that some or all of the group left without a word. It's tedious and annoying for everyone involved to ask who's going down at every single elevator. Once all players have gotten onto an elevator, there should be a window that shows the up/down choice for everyone in the group. There should be some way to make a choice based on how many people are going down.

You might also make this a toggle in the menu, when turned on it resets your choice if any other player chooses to exit. I suspect in most cases the other players would still choose to continue even if they knew one person was leaving.
What I really would like is for when a player leaves the group at the elevator their stuff appears on the next floor so you can collect it, rather than scattering on the elevator and promptly despawning when the level ends.

I know it's so effin frustrating that some wimp doesn't want to do jelly so he leaves the part on the elevator and all his crap is like right there and you can't pick it up. I REALLY HATE that.
I like the idea of group confirmation as well

Ah so where it says "At Lift" It switchs to "^" for Haven or "V" for next Depth when they choose their option on the elevator. Also, increasing time would be handy as well.
I second this! Also possibly extend the time to confirm going up or down to 20 seconds. The reason I say this is because I can tell if people go up or down is if they choose to go up and I see their stuff drop before I make my choice.
