I am unsure about the combo I should go with. I have a Silversix and a Volt Driver currently, and now I've learned they both are effectively the same, and render me useless against beasts and gremlins. I want to stick with one of them, but need a gun that can pick up where the other leaves off. I'm going for the Shadowsun set, and want my dps to be as high as possible.

So, what is a a good gun to counterbalance either one?

oh beasts, silly beasts

Well you have a pretty solid loadout!! but gremlins and beasts are gonna drive you crazy! so, what i suggest is getting, not a gun, but a sword. As for your guns, you have undead and construct covered perfectly, You can still ahniallate slimes and it just so happens that those 2 guns seem to be exceptional for taking out most of the finicky fiend family. Now, beasts and gremlins are what you have as an open spot, both families dodge, both families have fur(but that doesnt matter!). Now, youre going to want either a piercing, normal, or shadow sword. I would not reccomend a shadow sword, its not really required. A normal sword is great, i would get leviathan, its charge attack would set groups up perfectly for a volt driver charge attack. But if you get a piercing sword, you should get a flourish or rigadoon. They are fast, very specific-target oriented, and are also a great coverage against firnds, just in case they wont seem to get shot in the face.

if you want gun coverage though, i would definately reccomend Blaster, Or callahan. The blaster is a great gun all round, dealing normal damage, fast firing and relatively fast moving shots. You can easily say that the blaster will stick with you whenever in doubt. Now the callahan, it fires 2 heavy shots before reloading, and you walk rather slow while firing, chargig, and reloading. This gun is a bit of a risk, so attack speed increase is an absolute must! The bullets fire so fast, that dodgers will not be able to dodge, and almost always knocks your enemies down, along with the occasional bonus stun, this gun was born for killing things that bear fur and fangs, and thats just what it'll do, but be cautious, and always shield cancel.

Processing Thoughts of You Always

Umbra Driver and Sentenza are both good choices, depending on which mechanic you prefer best.
You may also find the high damage output of Blitz Needle to be useful on non-piercing-resistant enemies.
(Piercing resistant enemies - slimes and constructs - are either neutral or weak to elemental, so you don't need to worry about that.)
