Hello there.

I dled SK yesterday, tried it a bit. The game looked nice, concept was fun, and the game seemed pve mission based.

However, i'm wondering if there's any challenging missions/dungeons or something like that? Somethin that is hard because of mechanics not due to insane gear requirments.

Well, T2 and T3 are

Well, T2 and T3 are significantly more difficult. Better gear does make it easier, but not a whole lot. You have to use skills you learned from the previous tiers to not die horribly. First there're danger missions that unlock after 4-1, which are pretty much what they sound like. Then there's the Firestorm Citadel, the premier dungeon in T3 and which first-timers tend to find quite difficult. And finally there are Shadow Lairs, which are souped-up versions of the boss dungeons, but have an exorbitant entrance fee. Every enemy becomes a whole lot tougher mechanics-wise later in the game. There's also the wilderness of the clockworks, which have a whole bunch of random levels that vary in difficulty.

lol, it's a tricky question. Difficulty is subjective to each person. Some may find it hard, some easy. We dont share the same skills.

game is well-designed for increasing skill

The game is particularly well-designed in how increasing degrees of skill, knowledge, and judgment are required.

When you first start playing, no skill is required at all. You can just walk up to monsters and bash them with your sword until they die. While you are doing this, they will hit you back, but so little that it hardly matters.

As you progress through the game, your weapons and armor become stronger, but the monsters' attacks become stronger at a much faster rate. If you use simple bash-until-dead tactics deep in the dungeon, you will find that the monster kills you before you kill it. Instead, you must wait for the ideal opening in the monsters' movements, deliver a carefully prepared attack, and then dodge/retreat to prepare another attack. Doing this well in a team requires either high skill or intimate familiarity with your teammates.

I once recommended Spiral Knights to a friend of mine, who is a serious gamer. He quickly dismissed it as too stupid and easy. A couple weeks later he stopped by my house and saw me playing with a guildie. I was shielding my guildie while he gunned turrets, and executing flanking maneuvers while he occupied monsters from the front, and so on. My friend was impressed.

Spiral Knights is never going to be the most hard-core, skill-intensive game, but give it a chance to get interesting. :)
