Playing this game far too much...how about you?

I recently looked at my play time, and it read a solid 43 days. Forty-three days! I've been playing since around this time in april of last year, making that around 16 months ago.
Some basic math...
16 months x 30 days per month (an estimation) = 480 days
43 days x 24 hours per day = 1032 hours
1032 hours/480 days = 2.15 hours per day
At this point, I made a start. Average of two hours per day?! Am I out of my freaking mind? 2.15 hours a day tacked onto my steam playtime along with other assorted gaming equals 3-4 hours of gaming a day. For a student, I think that this is unacceptable. If I used that 3-4 hours a day on other things, I would be stronger academically and would be able to get more rest. In terms of what I need in my life, I don't think gaming cuts it. As a result, I will be investing the time I free up from not gaming into social outings with friends and loved ones, and doing the things I think I ought to be doing in this stage in my life. This doesn't mean that I'm quitting, but it does mean that I'll primarily be playing over the weekends, and for much shorter periods of time.
Why the heck did I post this on the forums? Well, I want you guys to make sure I commit to this. Every person who reminds me to get off Spiral Knights if I've been playing for more than 5-10 minutes on the GMT+8 weekdays/1 hour on the weekends will be rewarded. I mean it, be expecting a gift of gratitude in items or CE.
Also, I'm sure you guys have had your own experiences concerning this :) I've seen quite a few on the forums. I'd be interested in hearing them.
I'm glad to have met my friends while gaming here, but it's time to go. See you guys later, you're a sweet bunch. Etendue out.

90 days
Don't regret it at all.
I'm just a weird guy I guess but I honestly don't care much for anything else and I'm pretty happy lol. I have my reasons not to care much for the future. Just live the moment and honkall. Especially people IRL. Bleh.
But just 2 hours a day still isn't that much unless you have a busy schedule, that is.
Just do whatever you need to do man.
Can I have your stuff?

Combined with my old beta time it's about 26 days.
Most of that is probably AFK time too.

"Are you seeking for attention?"
Haha, I've been around for ages. If I was that kind of person, somebody who actually knows would've said it already. The forums have no mercy.
-I'm still playing, Ters! :D Just not nearly as much as before. If I completely quit, I'll give you priority access to my arsenal.

31:04:36:06 - Almost never afk
Been playing since April 22, 2012.
Don't judge me.
Reminder to stop playing! I'm in a similar boat.

Will send you a customary reminder as long as I can remember :)

This is why we need a graveyard where players can essentially pay CE to put their accounts into a temporary stasis without leaving the game completely.
I suggested something here:

Haven't worked out all the details, but most of the concept is there.

12.6 hrs / 788.3 hrs is this weeks steam time ^^ (started playing again a few days ago haha) when i had my elevator pass (and didn't have to go to work) i played like 3/4 hours a day (and maybe an hour or so in an other game) and the rest was social life haha :D
you just need to find out how to balance things out (make a schedule if you have to)

Hmm...I wonder how much Ive been playing. I joined early January '12...Oh...25 days....:/

96 Days and 12 Hours.
Started September 30th.
Someone do the math for me.

Alas, balance doesn't seem to play nice with addictive games.
You come for the entertainment and stay...forever o_o It must be the snipes.

Sure thing Enclavean.
Let's count Sept. 30 as the start of October...
that's 10 and a third months or so.
31/3 x 30 = 310 days
96 days x 24 hours per day = 2304 hours
2304 hours + 12 hours = 2316 hours
around 3.21 hours, or 3 hours 13 minutes a day on Spiral Knights alone.

Lucky people and people who used market info have all the time in the world to play or do other stuff, while I still gotta earn my stuff and try. I think I'm even below average of the average lucky person. Rolling over x50 times and not get a single asi high/vh on a pulsar is just a bad sign. I've only gotten 3 good maxed out items; well one, and the second one is okay. While I see all these guys rolling numerous great ones, and these are not just a small pool of people. Market's not even doing good anymore, things are selling for cheaper now or it's hard to even get a sale, so you can't follow the advice of profiting from just hanging around all day. Maybe if you have patience to gain bit by bit with that one strategy. It just seems like people all have what they want and the lower price signals become the new ones. But people are still able to command high prices that were similar to the ones last year, sometimes more if the item got more popular over time and is rare, for some rare items, the value decreased.
Good thing I'm out of college, or else I wouldn't even get 1/3 of the stuff I've hated to slave for. It's so hard to take advantage of the market now, and to get everything I want before I have to go find a job and finally communicate with people that I know personally cause the market is driving me nuts. Rarely do you ever get always get a steal, and when you get into bid wars driving the prices close to buyouts, etc. And once you inevitably lose, you have to rebuy the energy that you sold at a much higher price.

Etendue, do the math for me too:
May 2011 (Substract two months since that was my total hiatus time)
90 days 06 hours
And let's see if it matches my current daily time in SK.

Well I joined in March 2011 but didn't stay long. I then joined again when it came onto Steam so let's check that xD
Steam says I've played for 1109 hours. I'm not good at math so I don't know how many days it is but there ya go :P
I believe my character says over 40 days xP I will admit most of the time has come from this summer holidays. I love my guildies ^^
Now back into hiding from the forums!
~The Mighty Cheese Knight; WeeGee

#15, Etendue: 2316 hours / 310 days = 7.47 hours per day.
Weegeeftws: 1109 hours is 46.2 days.
I joined in late May 2011, and the login screen says 115 days, 14 hours. That's one day short of 2800 hours.

I'm sure how to feel around you guys :/
Joined June 2011, 1166.2 hours.

:) Sorry, looks like pulling an all nighter to write essays has a detrimental effect on your mathematical skills.
But you're right, that is the proper time. 7.47 hours, or ~7 hours 28 minutes every day!
Ters, 15 months (or so) - 2 = 13 months
90 x 24 = 2160+6=2166
13 months x 30 days = 390 days
2166/390 = 5.55 hours per day, or ~ 5 hours 33 minutes!
*that* is a lot.

Etendue, stop playing for the rest of the night!

For half of my time here I used to play 1-2 times a day, with a total amount of playtime per day amounting to 4-5 hours.
It was worth it, and its still fun to play, just lost the feel it had now that I pretty much solo everything in the game, and that gets boring and lonely :(

Lol, I uninstalled Spiral Knights (at least for now). Haven't played since my first post, just taking breaks from my extremely long work period by responding here.

Lets see...
Beta with Release is 2 years almost, then subtract 3 months for my huge hiatus, so 1 year and 9 months. IGT is registering 150.
So...
21 months
150*24= 3600
21*30= 630
3600/630 = 5.7 average a day.
Seems longer than that now a days.
God i need a life...

Aha I feel you guys.
I joined around june 2011 and have about 900 hours playtime on Steam. Probably can add a couple hundred hours playing off steam.
Sad thing is I spent most of this time in about five months. I used to average 6/7 hours a day.
I think most of us are F2P players or really low spenders at least? Reminds me it took about 300/400 hours just to get all five star, 90% of it on constant farming. Pretty sure paying would have made the journey way shorter. I enjoyed every hour of it tough so I guess it's alright.
Best advice I can give you guys who want to stop is to erase your character. If you're really hooked and can't control your playtime, then it's the only viable option. That's what I did, worked out pretty good, since there was no way I would redo it all over again. I admit after sometime near christmas, I missed the game and recreated a character. But boredom took over quickly and I stopped playing since, few, January I think?
I still pass on the forums though every month or so.
Anyway, good luck mate!

"Ters, 15 months (or so) - 2 = 13 months
90 x 24 = 2160+6=2166
13 months x 30 days = 390 days
2166/390 = 5.55 hours per day, or ~ 5 hours 33 minutes!"
It was 96* days. :x
But yes that's accurate.
<3 SK even if you disappoint me so often.

I had so incredibly high efficiency these past 2 days o_o
This Spiral Knights hiatus is doing me a lot of good. Hopefully I won't have to resort to deleting my account though. I'd like to log in occasionally...

i have 2 account to please my daily needs of sk ( i have a PC and laptop so they don't share same mist tanks)
one T3 and another T2..... which i just started yesterday >.< mainly made to support my main's finacials and so work as a stress ball from being a bomber for too long xD.
/e sqwuats and pokes dead greaver with flourish >:3

There's a difference between quitting and being stupid.
Quitting is abandoning your account.
Being stupid is deleting it.

I wonder genuinely who has the most time played. I only have 45ish days for this account, but there are people who do a lot more spiral knighting than I do.

I've got about 6 days of playtime.
Joined September 2011. And I thought I was playing too much. These are impressive figures.
STOP READING THIS AND STUDY.
The main reasons that my playtime is so minuscule is:
-Die way too much(at least once in rjp. Sad right?) / only use mist for elevators.
-Certain people limit my playtime.
-SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE IS A BOSS.
-studying
etc.
I often tell newbies who run out of mist during an expedition to stop begging for a tab and go for a walk.

"I wonder genuinely who has the most time played."
Well, I know of Dan who has 110-120~ days, but there's surely more.
If you've reminded me ingame, please post here so I don't lose track of who I've yet to gift.
