Does anyone else feel like the UV ticket "compensation" was a bit.... crude?

It kind of seemed to me that it benefited the people who ragecrafted bombs 5 minutes prior to the update a hundred times more than the people who actually cared about the bomb. I used RSS a ton before the update, praised it for its good game balance, and loved it, whereas many others benefited indefinitely more simply because they used their wealth in the correct way by being in the right place at the right time.

For instance- http://i.imgur.com/KuGW7.jpg

In this picture, the player who received this is basically never going to have to pay for a UV again. I myself did not craft any additional bombs, for the major reason that it felt that it would be wrong to me. I was not supposed to be receiving 100+ tickets, I was supposed to be receiving the two for the bombs I owned, + the ones for the variants I held on me.

In my eyes this does not compensate for the ruination of the sun shards, it just lowers the price of UV tickets for an hour and a half on a wednsday.

We already know who that

We already know who that player is, its pretty absurd they let people abuse it the way they did. So in the end the true RSS/ISB uses really gained nothing for their loss of a great bomb (the RSS line anyway).

Dear OOO

My crafting alt received 20 tickets for these crystal bombs I had leftover from ragecrafting for a good UV. My alt did not use those bombs, all it simply did was craft 2 crystal bombs a day until I got lucky and got a ctr med + gremlin med. Why did it get UV tickets?

Eh, just goes to show you how the world actually works. People abuse a goodwill gesture for their own gain. You thought you could escape the kind of crap that goes on in real life in a game? Well, OOO has news for you.

@Wood

Yes, I am well aware that we all know whom that picture belongs to. However, I'm not trying to shame them, or say anything bad about them as they were not alone in their behavior, and as Guy says, "Eh, just goes to show you how the world actually works" If OOO wanted to care about the people, they would have. But they didn't, so they must not actually care.

@Guy

I'm just hoping to create another opportunity for the one thread that Nick clicks on to hold some kind of solution. I know that its how things work, and I'll probably just go delete someone off of my friends list on steam. That makes me feel better for some reason.

Everybody saw that pic till now and this has been discussed to the bone.

Just the UVs crude?

You think only the UV's were crude? What about the weapon line changes? Granted 1kcr for crafting another set of shards isn't horrible, but I think it would have boded a bit more in OOO's favor if those that crafted the shardbombs got the recipes capable of helping them craft again.

As for HOW they distributed their compensation? The failure is in the fact that they let loose what their compensation would be before the patch was enacted. Allowing a bunch of people (who don't even care about bombs, let alone bombing in the first place) to abuse it.

I am extremely upset that they decided to give us UV tickets instead of renaming the old shardbombs and giving us a new set of rare weapons. I honestly feel that would've made people far more happy. (In fact if they did that with all their older weapons the SK world would probably be enjoying the game a bit more. Making the old items drops from monsters would bode better as well under that thought process.) Crafting alts could keep their crystal bombs and not get them higher, the old RSS could be maintained alongside the old ISB, and bombers who used them could keep em. Would that solution be perfect? No, but it would make the game a bit more awesome.

Bombers have been asking, for a long time, for a set of weapons that do pure specialized damage. For the longest time we were stuck with DBB, Nitro, RSS, or P2P DR for our DPS bombs. Now? We have a cluster bomb group that can do specialized damage. I've begun to learn a few tactics with this new setup, I'm adapting as any weapons specialist should be capable of. Does this patch in particular make me angry? [insert reference to an underworld with nine rings here] yes. I feel that while yes, bombers should have an AOE application they also, just like gunners and swordies, deserve an opportunity to step out of the fold. (See: Pulsar lines (develop AOE when spammed), Catalyzers (bomb attachment to monsters), Brandishes (if you're asking why you deserve a smack to the head), DA (bullet swords), GF (bullet sword), Spur (bullets) for additional reference to above sentence) With RSS, you could focus on multiple enemies, or on a single one. No other bomb offered this. Having a multifunctional bomb apparently became a crime as of late... so here's a suggestion.
Lose all the explosions that could cause AOE on ANY non-bomb weapon. The only reason multiple hits should be made will be due to ricochets, melee function, or an extra attack for any non-bomb weapon. Brandishes get nerfed down to their slash alone, causing a strong status most the time and get about 60-70% of their original charge's damage potential put on that single slash, lackluster KB. DA and GF? Same thing, mid KB between their normal swing and a troika charge. Pulsar? That KB gets lost and just splashes all over the enemies. Catalyzer? honestly just gut it from the system unless you wanna cause randomized statuses. Alchemers? Don't do anything, they actually do it right and within reason. Antigua lines? Back to the 6 bullet charge alone and splashed damage only, no KB. Keep working on all the weapons til they fit into one basic fold. Am I raging a little much? Probably...

While yes, a change was required, I feel this was not the way it should have been gone about.

Ending my rage here.

What I find ironic here is

What I find ironic here is the fact that OOO literally encouraged the use of such an obvious exploit by telling the players about the flawed reward mechanism they had in plan before the patch came, and yet they cracked down on the use of other exploits such as the FSC d26 sprite bug and even have it under their terms and conditions to NOT abuse any exploit in the game. It's already been said multiple times but I'll just repeat it again - true bombers will usually only have 1 of each bomb in their inventory unless they so happened to be ragecrafting for UVs prior to this patch, so they only get 1 ticket of each; whereas people who don't give a gremlin's buttcheeks about bombs see the announcement made, ragecraft a whole load of 2* bombs, and gets loads of uv tickets (Njthug durrhurr). In the end, they are awarding the average player instead of dedicated bombers, which is contradictory to what they said in that mail they sent. This is made worse by the embarrassingly obvious oversight of the reward mechanic of giving a uv ticket for each INDIVIDUAL bomb, as opposed to giving a uv ticket for each TYPE of bomb.

Eh, but he won't. OOO will just say nothing and try to let it blow over. Ignore the bad, keep disrespecting the players by implicitly allowing cheating and whatnot.

I've said it before that I'd at least stop thinking negatively of OOO if they'd just say they're sorry they can't bring judgement to the cheaters. I'd think positively of them again if they said they put in place metrics to make sure this doesn't happen again, and if it does, that they will be able to bring judgement to the abusers. After all, people make mistakes. Apologize, and we might forgive.

But hey, at least then they'd be denouncing abuse of the system. As is, their lack of response tells me that they endorse it. Their lack of action screams "Go ahead player base, we don't mind if you cheat the system; we won't even try to do anything to you."

C'est la vie.

Well.

Personally I owned an RSS but didn't like it cause it was too cheep. I crafted a couple crystal bombs cause i wanted to get ISB, but lol, i didnt feel like spam-crafting more for UV tickets. but

I love the new bombs, and im almost done my deadly shard bomb. All i could ask is no secondary crystal knockback, faster crystal rig detonation, larger ring crystal explosions, and a little more prevention from dissapearing crystals.

But as a concept, I love it to PIECES (Lol super corny pun durr)

YES, I agree with Shoebox.

The actual population of bombers should have been allowed to test the shard bombs, not just any old person who paid ten bucks in the past 30 days.

On top of that, OOO also should have listened to the testers' feedbacks.

Two things

1) It wasn't an exploit. Stop calling it that. Nj and others made their profits fair and square. It's OOO's fault for implementing this stupidly.

2) It also wasn't a super-duper great idea, and it certainly wasn't fair. (OOO's decision--not any player's actions.) I would be pleased with myself too had I made the right bet, but I'd still recognise it for a silly idea.

I think I read somewhere in

I think I read somewhere in forums someone obtained over 500 1 Variant ticket, which should be approx' 100m crowns. He crafted those bombs to find an UV, he probably found it, but yeah, let's give a variant ticket for each, just to make sure. Seems legit.

Actually, it made me laugh because on the assumption that most people weren't in the beta, it makes nj's post into a very carefully crafted troll post, which was rather hilarious. Frankly, I don't think he's serious at all. Your post makes me laugh too, because clearly everyone's been in the beta and knows everything that they've changed from beta to release... even all of those people who don't have groundbreaker armor.

@Njthug

You are the reason we cannot have nice things.

You also bring up an interesting point-

Would you rather have a good game that is somewhat fair to all of its players and doesn't do stuff like this, or have a game that unjustly favors the few people who are rich and have played it for the longest, giving bragging rights to those who played earlier, given that you would be favored?

Game theory would suggest the latter of them, although our moral compass points otherwise... provided it functions in such a way that equivocates the internet with more physical things.

Now that I've said that, I want to say something on that front as well, because whoever reads that is going to say "FEHZOR TAKES THIS TOO SERIOUSLY! INTERNET = TROLL EVERYTHING BE HAPPY!" and then disregard everything I type from this moment onwards.

If I go out of my way to invite people to my party just to kick them at the last moment such that they get no heat, or to AFK and then kick them so as to waste their time, it might not be such a crime, but those who got hurt by it are still not going to be happy. Similarly, if I go out into public places and create massive messes for whomever to clean up, it won't be too serious. After all, the result is the same. I get a small buzz of "haha! I've made someone upset!" and someone gets a small "Oh noes! Fehzor made me upset!" in their face. Simply being a game does not separate it from our emotions, and it does not separate it from the ability for it to be taken seriously. In fact, taking it slightly seriously is a good thing, you can have fun discussions that aren't just you creating a mess on the forums for whoever to clean up. Oh wait, they don't clean up messes here, never mind.

@ Fehzor

I think your problem with the "too serious" is that you don't see it as a continuum. Your post makes it sound as if ANY seriousness is TOO serious. Let me explain: I agree with you that a MODERATE or healthy amount of seriousness is inevitable if you like the game. Yes, it is often a good thing. But if it goes out of control and suddenly you are upset or irrational and emotional, then you are probably taking it "too" seriously.

I think the OP wouldn't

I think the OP wouldn't create this thread has he made the right bet and profited from this. You kept asking on the announcement thread if it was one ticket per bomb, but since 000 didn't clear it up, you feared to lose your wealth and didn't risk it. Obviously you would have crafted these bombs had you been sure it will work. So please, be honest to yourself and don't dare to say, "I felt it was wrong". This is ridiculously false and too obvious.

And inb4, no I didn't profit from this, my character has been off from months.

President-Trump
compensation?

I can use a metaphor here:
A person took my precious necklace that my passed away ancestors left me, it's made of glass, technically worthless my meaningful to me. In return he gave me 3 gold bars and another glass necklace. HELL NO! I want my RSS back, not that ring shard creator bomb.

@Ashley-Cutey

I don't know about the OP, but that was my situation: I wanted to profit, but made the wrong call. I will cheerfully admit that. But even if I'd made the right call, I'd still feel the same way about the bomb compensation as a design decision. It was a silly idea and a bad way of achieving the stated aim. Whether I lost or gained (and TBH, I never used RSS and I did craft a few bombs, so I gained--just not as much) doesn't change that.
