What happens to Spiral Knights account when people quit?
Do we loose all our stuff or anything?
What about hackers stealing ce, crowns, and items from other players?
I just wanna know what happens to our accounts when people leave the game or go inactive for over a month. Sometimes, I run into old players that have been inactive for over a month or half a year. One of the players I met still had their all there items (I'm not sure about crowns and ce). He was probably gone half a year since he never done the missions before. Another player i met lost all their ce, crowns and mats except for their gear and says he got hacked after leaving spiral knights for a month. However, he said he was lucky because gave away some of the stuff to his friends, so he didn't lose everything. This vanguard player didn't have anything else to wear but a wolver suit he just bought or made. I was told if I left the game my account would be hacked. There are also active players who just get hacked and lose everything overnight.
Anyways is there a way to prevent our items, crowns, and ce from disappearing??? Should should players spend their ce and crowns frugally, since there is a chance we will loose everything? Should players give away all their stuff before they leave, in case of hackers or spiral knights possibly deleting their stuff? I know that in some other games, everything you have is deleted when you leave or become inactive for months or years.
Apparently as i was writing this, another person on my friend list was hacked. Now he is a stupid 3 star person .....
From what i can see, it seems like the hackers are only able to hack the user's account and password. However, they have to use the ce and crowns to unbind the gear. then mail everything over to their own personal account. So if you are broke, it might save you since they cant take your items unless they just sell your items for crowns.

Yes, after 1 month of inactivity all your stuff is converted to ferrets and fed to Hyperion.
*rolls eyes*

"What about hackers stealing ce, crowns, and items from other players?"
Does being inactive make a difference with that?

I don't know. It might make a difference or maybe not. I don't know if inactive accounts are easier or not.
Hacking a person who has been inactive also means there is a high chance for them to get away. The user was inactive for 1 month which means they won't know what happened to their account until they logged in. By the time the user logs in and report, it is too late. The thief is long gone. Even if three rings does find the culprit eventually, the money, gear or whatever they stole has been spent/disposed. So lost goods can't be retrieved and the culprit can deny claims since there is no evidence.
The only reason i made this post was because there is always people getting hacked, people are always leaving the game or coming back, and last we don't even own anything in this game.

If it's ce then there should be a record of the transaction. If your account is a paid account.
At least you know where your ce goes?

there is no record of transaction on spiral knights itself......
assuming if you paid ce with real cash and i hacked your account. all i need to do is mail myself all your ce and pooff it is all gone. there is no log that records all your sent messages and there is no way of knowing where the ce went to. yeah sure when you buy ce with real cash, there is a receipt and it says so on your bank transaction, but in game there is nothing that will prevent your ce from being stolen from another hacker.

Yeah, because hacking is:
/hack
/stole items
/transfer crowns
/transfer CE
.....
In ONLINE GAMES there is NO 'real' hacking. In online games there is only human stupidity. People trying to use some phishing money generators, trying to use programs giving them advantage in game, scripts, macros basically downloading to their computer various trojans, keyloggers and backdoor worms or even sending to maker of program/site their own password and username. Also playing in unsecure and public places where computers lack of protection and they have ton of keyloggers or even computer owner install keyloggers ...
On side note, all CE transactions are registred in CE history...

There is real hacking for online games. I am not talking about about the giving out a person's password by accident or viruses/trojans etc... or even the downloaded programs that allows people use to gain an unfair advantage in game.
I am talking about real legit hacking that alters the memory and registry. The actual people who make the hacks for people to download. There are like 1 percent of them in every game or something. I know this because I have actually met them in other games and showed me hidden secrets in their programs other people who uses don't know about.
Ex. In starcraft original I could actually find the other person's ip address, see exactly each unit my oppnent is clicking on and etc... After starcraft 2 was launched, the moved on and continued. Despite blizzard baning over 5k players, those guys are still there chilling hacking whenever they want lol. Then you look at combat arms hackers continue to make and update their hacks while people who use their program overrun the place...
Where is the CE transaction being registered??? Where is the log that keeps all the transaction? Auction house has a temporary log that keeps track of your auctions, but disappears after 1 day. If you mail 3k ce to someone, is it recorded in spiral knights? They don't have a sent message section or any of that stuff for the user. I can't look back on it. If three rings actually has a record for every transaction, would they bother to go through 30 days of data just to help?
I am not just talking about ce that is bought with cash, but ce in general that could also be bought with crowns. Then there is your materials, tokens, armor, weapons, and etc...

Yes, your CE log is saved for your entire Spiral Knights career (I believe) in the Crystal Energy Depot on the website. It logs every transaction done with CE, sent or received.

Keyword is "other games".
SK cannot and has not been hacked so far.

every game can be hacked.
even league of legends has been hacked on the 4th of july. On that day i was playing LoL the hacker baned a player for being 14 years old, gave some other guy 9999 elo, and continued to screw with everything for the LoL.
dont worry. if sk was hacked you wont even know about it.
Note: transactions older than 3 months may be expunged.
date action crystal energy
asdf traded with blahblah 10
ugggh. face palm >.< you guys dont get it. ill stop talking. just forget about. why even bother.
you guys are right! i don't have to worry about it. right now nobody cares enough to hack spiral knights. its not even worth the effort to do it.
Actually since SK is hosted on Amazon servers it could be hacked; probably real hackers (not MSN keylogger-senders or give me your account log I'm your friend you can trust me's) could take some interest in these. But be real 5 seconds, even so, SK doesn't store and credit card informations, there's nothing worth actual money that could be retrieved in here. Just as long as you didn't gave your account information to an "old internet friend" you can be sure your Knight will remain safe.

talk about paranoia
yes
there is actually a haxors society that lurks and chekcs for players to quit
then they start their procedure and slowly get grasp of your belongings through a dark ritual
if you are gone for a year you will come back to a negative balance account!!!
well thats y i use steam, pretty much hacker free unless someone breaks all my security passwords and stuff, or even robs my house.
If you're inactive SK wont delete anything, I know a person who hav been inactive for months he came back with everything, a game wont just take away YOUR stuff cuz thats illegal.
Remember: never give your password away, and using an ALT account for forums is a good idea too, since you need to type in password manytimes when logging in.
If you don't like steam and wanna leave for a long period, mayb create a Steam ALT, ship all CE, CR into your alt to keep them safe. Steam is technically harder to hack.
Suggestion: built-in password system for every created knight, built-in passcode system for selling stuff to vendors and unbinding (also allow use to choose which situation requires a passcode or nort, such as selling mats and selling precious 5* gear.)
