I've been thinking about getting a bomb, and I thought the haze bomb family is the way to go. So I've recently been thinking of getting an Ash of Agni, but then the Shivermist Buster has its ups and downs too. So I just want to ask you guys; which one do you guys like better?
Ash of Agni, Shivermist Buster. Which ones better?
I don't mean to highjack the thread or whatever, but what about the Venom Veiler? How does it stack up? The wiki makes it look like its blast radius at the highest level is a little smaller than the other two. Is that true, and is that a big deal? Is it a good weapon for someone using a bomb as a backup weapon for variety's sake and to thin out crowds in tight spaces, or are the other two more useful?
I don't know. I never used one.
But I think this post about general status afflictions can help answer that.

Also, if its blast radius is a "little" smaller, that's not that big of a deal. I do however doubt you'll be using it to thin out crowds in tight spaces. Poison doesn't do damage on its effect (the blast would do damage if you actually caught them in the initial blast but that's it). It just stops them from healing (according to the wiki it damages them if they do get healed but this is hard to notice to me and if there's no healer around, that effect is useless).
Agni for everything but fire mobs, Shivermist for fire mobs.
If you want more info use the search, there are many threads about this scattered around.
As for veiler, it's pretty decent since it makes your allies deal more damage and stops enemies from healing, but quite useless when soloing.
Shivermist is best for crowd control.
Absolute best.
But it demands Demo gear to be used to its maximum potential.
Well...Demo gear or a CTR UV Shivermist...
How about both :D Full Demo + CTR Medium + Lv 10 bomb and you should have CTR Maximum.
@Joydmn The blast radius in the wiki is incorrect, that bomb looks like a Irontech Bomb (?) the not the Venom Veiler. I'll snap a new shot when I'm online again, but I think the radius is the same as the other 5* in the haze line.
As far as Ash vs Shivermist, I have both and find both useful. Ash more so though since I can use it to do continuous damage while kiting without knockback (which might disrupt swordfighter's efforts.) It is useless in fire strata though. Shivermist, on the other hand, is great for holding the mobs in place, for example constructs, wolvers or gremlins so that we have time to charge attacks and pick off healers.
I usually bring two bombs with me and check out the levels ahead to see what will be most useful. Running Ash + Shivermist would be counter productive, I've tried both together and it just isn't effective as the effects are not complimentary. My most common setup is Master Blast + Ash because I can set fire to things and push mobs around if desperate. Also a favorite of mine is Ash + Poison, two ailments is better than one! If it is a beast or fire strata I'm probably wielding Master Blast + Shivermist just because I hate wolvers.
If there is a graveyard possibility, I'll try to bring an Ash since it makes dealing with lots of skellies much easier... just light them up and sit back.
I haven't used the fire bomb series yet, but I can tell it will fail in tier 3.
Ash of Agni fails in the Firestorm Citadel. Fortunately, there is more than just the FSC in Tier 3, in which case Ash is a wonderful asset to have.
Also, I should have noted that these recommendations were for a bomber. If you are a sword wielder and are looking for a 5* haze bomb to complement your play style then a Shivermist might be a better choice over Ash. Since you are already doing lots of damage with your sword the continuous damage offered by Ash would be redundant.
I officially don't have either (I have the Freezing atomizer which is one step below)
But they are both situation dependent.
Fire is awesome if you wanna deal damage over time, you can run while the enemy can burn :D. But its completely useless on fire stages naturally...and vanaduke's area is like all fire.
Freeze is awesome if you want to keep enemies where they are (and it may deal damage as well if they thaw out naturally), of course its useless in a freeze themed stage but at least no current boss is immune to it. Helpful with party members who you may wanna give a break to charge another attack (you can even use this by yourself as well).
