To be honest, considering that the board of OOO is now SEGA, you can't say that this is exclusively what they want.
I don't think the last promo items were even recoloured by the SK art staff, to be honest. Not that recolouring is particularly difficult, but they seem to have too much attention to detail to leave pixels uncoloured just because the greys are the same colour as the buckles. It's not even an extra ten seconds to do it if you know what you're doing.

wow, really digging with this one. Desperate to complain about something you are brining up the surveys that are randomly given out that have been around for months on end.

That survey (asking about colors) was around when the survey system was first released.

Go find another area to cry about the game.

All the future costume recolors are already made, they're just asking which one people want next. Personally, I'd vote for the "love" theme.

I've had the option to fill out surveys for a while now. And I get asked questions about the game when I close it.

I kind of think you are reading too far into it. OOO isn't out to humiliate its players.

Edit: and like others are saying, I've seen these survey things go around for months and months. Sometimes they are more interesting than this somewhat banal one. I don't really understand why every little thing has to perceived as a slight against the players.

I really don't get what the big deal is. The promos are cheap, easy to make, people who want the product will buy it, and people who don't want the product don't have to. Maybe they should lower the chance of UV tickets, but regardless, you get your money's worth in CE. They aren't wasting game development resources on this, Ian and Cory could make these promo items during their lunch break.

The thing that irks is is that they didn't ask if we like having a whole color scheme that matches nothing outside of the promo. Or if we like boxes that give us a UV ticket half the time, which makes making a costume with the promo items even harder when they already don't match anything else -.(\ And they don't even care about the players opinion about the shards.... they said this was something they didn't take lightly, wouldn't they want to know if we like the new shard bombs? .-.

It's true, one of the biggest reasons I didn't like the leafy promo is because it didn't match anything else. However, that also made all its stuff stand out in a crowd, so I can see why some people bought it. And of course, new content can always be released in that color palette. I can see that set of colors going well with some kind of wolver or chromalisk boss...might be worth a new thread in Suggestions.

As for the shards, which still can't be laid to rest, balance fixes aren't generally things players ever get to comment on and get taken seriously. Hypothetical example:

OOO: Hey, do you want us to nerf this thing so that the game isn't so unbalanced?
Players: Yeah! That stuff is so OP! The way it's being used is really unfair! How can anything else compete with it!? It's like you're punishing us for using less powerful things!
OOO: Okay then...We'll nerf it.
Players: WHAT DID YOU DO!? The old stuff was way better! How dare you!

While a great idea, that should be under the assumption that the input received would be worthwhile, and considering the overall intelligence of the playerbase, I get the feeling no one in Sega or OOO could be convinced, even with the right amount of money, to be bothered to sift through all of that "input".

I mean, I can bet that all that stuff will be about asking for pets.

"Nobody" was in the figurative, not literal (something like "most people", since people never get 100% along on everything, but that is quite obvious).
Also, people still hadn't liked the bomb as it is, just as you said it needed to get some tweaks to be an acceptable bomb but it never had any (it's like saying, oh dreamcast could have done well if it had x, y and z so it wasn't a failure it was a total success because it could be good), along with it they also replaced a well liked bomb for one that aside from the name doesn't have anything to do with the new one.

I don't mind promo items.

I'm just missing good old Rose Regalia costume, Stranger Hats, Sonic costume or even items like Green Ward.
Even Nemesis recolours were somewhat more creative with that little skull brooch on Infernal Guardian Armor and whatnot.

But Hunter recolours were horrible in my opinion, even though I like the general idea behind that theme (I voted for green and brown in the survey, because I like earth colours). There were too many of recoloured sets and the hues were really unpleasant. Even though Olive Green is my favourite colour the one used in hunter items was a way too yellowish and a way too saturated. I'd rather see less recolours but better ones. With some unique texture (swirls, vines) or some additional elements (leaves, feathers) those hunter recolours would be much more interesting. Hunter theme sounds really nifty for a dedicated druid/tree-hugger like me and I really hoped for something inspired by those sprites from FSC, but the way it was eventually executed and introduced was terrible.

i dont mind to buy a promo, what i dont like its they dont giving us a chance to get the costume (i mean seriously its feel like 90% of the chances are TICKETS TICKETS AND TICKETS). i like when they at least give us for sure a costume but which was random was the color (Rose regalia) but now this kind of promo coming from boxes with a low chance to get a costume? no thanks. i guess what im going to buy for now its my elevator pass... since guildmates and friends need helps sometimes.

Unfortunately Spiral Spy isn't good for a whole lot anymore. A lot of changes have happened to the game files that makes them largely useless in Spiral Spy which churns out textureless/poseless white models.

I checked spiral spy 1.2 but I can't see any other color mix than grey one. So it's quite useless.

I have seen nothing but coplaints about these promo sets. and you know what? look at the market. look at the price of ce per cr. The promos are a method of reducing this price and stabelizing the ce market. who cares if YOU don't like this particular relese? I did, and I'd like to see more.
