I don't have either.... is Owlite shield better in any significant way other than the shock/fire aspect? I have both the royal jelly shield and the barbarous thorn shield, and the only difference between them seems to be the sword bonus.

You know what? Forget it. Yes, I've been around for a while, but I've spent my time making weapons. Well now I'm done with that, and am making shields. But I don't know how they work nearly as well as I know how weapons work, because I've never put any significant effort into looking at how shields work. I'll just graveyard this and ask someone in person.
You've been around a long time; are you seriously asking about this? Or are you making fun of silly questions other posters ask? Just checking.
Anyway, if you are serious, then no, of course Grey Owlite isn't better in any significant way other than its shock/fire. Which is kind of the whole point. Status resists on shields (at least, the built-in kind) make an incredible difference when it comes to soaking attacks that deal that status.
Royal Jelly Shield has Stun, whereas BTS has sword damage. You are correct. Was this ever in doubt, and what's it got to do with Heater vs GOS? o__O
