You got rid of our OP bomber shards; why not eliminate our other OP weaps? Polaris: Less knockback, lower chance of shock, bullets do not expand as much. Polaris is the most OP weapon in lockdown. It defeats skill. At least with toothpicks, you need at least marginal skill to use it.
Well. I think it is finally time we nerfed the OP gun, Trollaris. What do y'all think?
Less knockback fixes nothing. While removing shock and making the bullets smaller could work, I'd rather just see the clip size dropped to two. Most players already just use two of the three shots anyway, nearly halving your total spammability.
And as for asukalan... There is no way to beat enough polaris. Have you ever seen a GvG match turn sour? on necropolis? I mean REALLY sour. It's possible to fill the two pathways completely with polaris. It has happened. It is not fun. Though necropolis is kind of an outlier in terms of compactness, frostbite also has the same issues. If you are in a compact alley, there is no way to defeat a polaris user on the other side, you either get knocked back, or you get shocked and take three hits. Then, by the time your spasm ends, the next wave of trollaris is upon you. Though it is possible to use it with skill, polaris is by far the easiest weapon to use without skill.
I would go on about how balancing weapons really is only for PvE, and that balancing PvP is never Three Rings' goal.
But this is more blunt.
If the Wiki is correct, the damage on Polaris line should match up to Valiance; the major difference is Polaris has immense knockback and a significant (4/3) rate of shock and explosive bullets. What does Valiance have? Faster bullets, just a little knockback (but at all ranges regardless of how close), and easily obtained recipes. Before posting this I checked the stats on my Polaris and Valiance, both have the same bar count; but Polaris still has shock. A lot of shock.
What about Supernova? Imagine the statusless, normal damage Valiance has combined with the Pulsar mechanic; that is what it has. Nothing more. Same damage count. No status. Apparently the second highest rate of shock possible makes up for having specialized damage instead of pure normal, though from what I have seen specialized weapons actually have lower base damage with no status. Either take away the shock on Polaris, lower its damage by around 12%, lower its shock rate (3/1 at most) with a smaller damage reduction (~6%), or lower its clip to two bullets while Supernova keeps its three.
I'm still of the opinion that the gun isn't the problem, it's the lazy way that most people tend to use it. I may not have extensive experience in LD, but I know from my many arcade and mission runs that people just tend to spray it everywhere without any regard to how the knockback will effect teammates or even themselves. They'll push Almirian Soldiers back and keep its shield up because one out of every five of their bullets is hitting rather than let it get close so the group can take it out much more quickly, and just spam it at lumbers without regard for the swordsmen dancing a careful dance with them that can result in very very large pain if something gets messed up. A good polaris user knows that if he can't tell what the knockback will do then neither will his teammates, and so he will switch to another weapon and either join the brawl or take them out with a less dangerous weapon.
But who am I kidding, this thread is all about Lockdown. Really though, I don't think that the shard bombs were changed just because of Lockdown. They were a weird mix of overpowered and horrifically underpowered, generally just wonky weapons that were rather out of place. In LD they weren't OP'd from what I had seen, they were just annoying. Easy enough to dodge but could easily take down people that were too far away to see the bomb... hence the problem: the bomb was long-ranged, which bombs weren't supposed to be. So they changed it. Everyone I've met with them in my runs said that they couldn't really complain about the new style. It was certainly different but not bad.
"There is no way to beat enough polaris."

Trollaris is the solution to everything.
But yeah, it is overpowered. The area it affects is larger than the explosion graphic; it should reduced to be in line with that, at the very least. However, the bullets are extremely slow and fairly easy to dodge in LD, unless you're a Striker who's not paying enough attention in which case tough luck.
I mean, you are talking about Lockdown and saying POLARIS is the problem?!
When out of 8 people there are 5 Skolvers and 2 Snarbolaxx or Vog Cub Users with a BTB or a FF and at most 1 or 2 people with a Polaris, the Polaris is what bothers you?
I won't even bother to argue here, because this is just stupid. As long as more than 50% of Lockdown is fought with FF or BTB there is no weapon overpowered except for those two.
"However, the bullets are extremely slow and fairly easy to dodge in LD, unless you're a Striker who's not paying enough attention in which case tough luck."
And thats the point. This is exactly why toothpick strikers want to nerf polaris so badly. They dont want to pay attetion to what they do, they just want to rush in at people with their spam :attack/shield cancel/attack/shieldcancel with toothpick
There was a nice topic somewhere on forum "Ridiculous range of toothpicks" nice stuff.
What if OOO totally took out the ability to shield cancel but only in LD, oh boy s*** would hit the fan wouldn't it now?
Enough polaris is genuinely impossible to dodge, and the camera angle SK uses doesn't lend itself to bullet hell styled dodging anyway.
@El-Odio
Polaris IS a problem. Toothpicks are OP, but unlike trollaris they are not broken. They should have been nerfed a long time ago, but there are ways to fight them. There is no way to fight enough polaris spam.
Man, LEARN HOW TO DODGE.
OK, so seriously now?
Dodge. They are big, bright and slow-moving. You can dodge them while invisible as a Recon. You can dash around them as a Striker. You can probably dodge them while shielding them as a Guardian.
YOU CAN WALK ROUND THE TROLLSAR BULLETS WITHOUT ANY CLASS MODS.
When it comes to corridors, find another route or give up and go capture another point.
The Pulsar lines are not OP. No, I don't own one. Check if you want.
Even if you want to kill the person on the other end of the Polaris, then find your own way. Alchemer charges. Valiance. Walking up to them and slapping them in the face with a wet fish. You decide.
Sorry, I raged a lot in that post.
..eventhough the Polaris is VERY EASY to dodge with its slow bullets. Yes! I have plenty of videos of lockdown where I am dodging Polaris spam.
although polaris is still very good in pve
Yeah, lets remove ALL weapons that can prevent skolver toothpick clones from rushing on you and poking you with "swing+shield cancel+swing+shield cancel" so they can dominate battlefield even more. Lets remove all weapons that toothpickers dont like so they can run freely around.
Because its easier to just remove something than learn how to avoid it and beat it.
From all suggestions all those "OMGZ, no weapon xxxx is OP, nerf it nerf it, remove it blablablab" are most pathetic and selfish ones.
Its simply ridiculous, thinking that changing one thing like this will solve everything.
